Honeymoon Couple Rowing From Monterey To Hawaii

This is not a repeat from 2014

Both expect to find some fun in this adventure because, after all, it is their honeymoon.

“As long as we go with the motion of the ocean and not try and fight it, we’ll be okay,” added Riaan. “The boat’s name is Honeymoon, for goodness sake. We’re going to try and have a little bit of a honeymoon before Hawaii.”

What Do You Smell, Ralph?

Smells like a rate hike for improvements to the poo pumps, Norton.

The civil grand jury found that since the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency owned and operated the pump station and was making repairs when the overflow occurred, it was responsible for the spill. In its report, the grand jury said the pollution control agency did not have a procedure to address potential false pressure readings and that the agency’s response was appropriate given the alternative.

The 2015 sanitary sewer overflow, which released 220,000 gallons of untreated sewage, occurred at the Fountain Avenue pump station owned and operated by the water pollution control agency.

Butterfly Population Is Dwindling

Lost their rental homes to newcomers from Fresno?

Who is The Xerces Society? They just told us that the Monarch population was up in February. Sounds like a global warming ruse.

A new study by the Xerces Society showed a 74 percent decrease in the number of monarch butterflies over the last two decades.

Butterfly conservationists at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History monitor the monarch numbers on the Monterey Peninsula and said the study’s results come as no surprise. They are similar to a trend conservationists are seeing locally.

“Their numbers are going down,” museum representative Patrick Whitehurst said.

How can these things work in our liberal area? No Left Turns, only turn right?

Blondie Roundabout

The agency says the Holman Highway roundabout project will be built to relieve congestion near Holman Highway and Highway 1 while also improving access to Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. The project is a public-private partnership between the city of Monterey, Pebble Beach Co., TAMC, Monterey County, Caltrans and the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District.

P.G. authors pen a book that shows a dislike of republicans’ ideas and get fired from an R.V. Association. Most RVs in that association must be of the 6 figure luxury slide out variety and not the used up school bus of crispy critters kind.

Baker said the group suspended the Herzogs’ media tour on June 29. The decision was “difficult,” but the organization’s principals are “nonpartisan” on both federal and state levels.

Baker said the organization has to focus on building and maintaining positive working relationships on both sides of the aisle on legislative and regulatory issues

“As spokespersons for (RVIA), the Herzogs’ decision to merchandise a book that does not meet the nonpartisan position of our organization distracted from our core values of political neutrality,” said Baker in the statement.

The Herzogs were shocked by the decision. They were five days into a 50-day media tour when the news hit.

Museum Degenerates Into Art Gallery

Dream Sign Gone

Sounds familiar, a showcase of history gets re-written. The Chief of the Tidepool Police wanted to turn the P.G. Mvsevum into an art gallery.

Formerly known as the Museum of Monterey, the newly-remodeled museum will now be home to Dali17, a permanent exhibit of 543 Dali works which is said to be the second largest private collection of Dali art in the United States and the first of its kind on the West Coast. It includes original etchings, mixed media, lithographs, sculptures and tapestries of the artist who lived in Monterey off and on for seven years in the 1940s.

Water Conservation Means 15% Rate Hikes

With Cal Am, the customers lose both ways. Use too much and get a fine. Use too little and get a rate hike. And everyone wants to build more hotels, eh?

“Our customers have done such a great job at saving water,” said Catherine Stedman, Cal Am manager of external affairs. “We have fixed costs to maintain the water system, so when you’re selling less water, then that price per unit of water will need to increase.”

Cal Am said to help make up for the shortfall, its requesting a 15 percent rate increase for customers on the Monterey Peninsula.

Gary Ozuna allegedly called the customer a “Nazi Redneck Bitch”. And I wonder if he has a license to play copyrighted material in public?

“I politely said, ‘$26 seems like an awful lot to me, are you sure that is correct?’” Raph said.

Ozuna calculated the amount again and came up with the same figure. “He said ‘Yep, $26. That’s what it is,’” according to Raph.“I said, ‘OK, at these prices it would be really nice to get a local’s discount because we have lived here for 20 years,” said Raph, 54. “I didn’t think it was too much to mention.”

With Led Zeppelin music playing on the shop’s speakers in the background, Raph said, Ozuna responded by saying,
‘Well, you can thank George Bush and Dick Cheney, the Nazis, for that,’” she recounted.
