Monterey Says No Sitting Or Laying On Sidewalks

Cat On Sidewalk

Why put up with Monterey and their unwelcome nature. Come to P.G. and occupy a parklet.

People who sit or lie on sidewalks in Monterey’s commercial areas may be fined $100 starting Wednesday.

The new ordinance approved by the Monterey City Council in July will ban “obstructions” from city sidewalks between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the areas of Cannery Row, Lighthouse Avenue, downtown Monterey, a portion of Fremont Street from Highway 1 to Casanova Avenue, and Fairground Road. These areas are known to be frequented by transients and young people traveling from out of town.
