A short distance from the VTC offices at Martinez Hall on former Fort Ord Army Base land in Marina, Lightfighter Village, at 229 Hayes Circle, provides 71 permanent rental homes for individuals earning between 30% and 50% of the area median income, with a special focus on those who have experienced homelessness.

“I don’t know of another organization that’s so interwoven throughout the county with veterans and homeless … they’re everywhere, and Kurt Schake, the current executive director, has been just amazing,” said Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado.

Sounds more like the thought police action than any weapons laws being broken.

Marina police received a tip about “concerning online postings” allegedly made by 21-year-old Ryan Keating.

At the Marina home, police said they found 2,500 rounds of ammunition in various calibers; two shotguns, one handgun, and three rifles, all legally purchased.

Investigators also found two “ghost gun” handguns and two “ghost” AR-15 rifles in the process of being manufactured. Numerous firearm parts and a 3D printer suspected of being used to make more firearm parts were also located, police said.

Four legally purchased handguns and 2,000 rounds of ammunition were located at Keating’s Pacific Grove home.

With search warrants in hand, federal agents raided two Central Coast cannabis farms on Thursday – one in Carpinteria and the other in Camarillo – resulting in a protester pointing a gun at agents, a farm worker’s death and the discovery of 10 children at one of the cannabis facilities.

All of the children were undocumented and eight were unaccompanied, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott. The owners of Glass House Farms are now facing allegations he violated child labor laws.

While cannabis is legal to use and grow in California, it is against the law for anyone under 21 years of age to be on the premises of a cannabis business, even if they are a family member.

I’d expect nothing less than the normal cheating Jenny McAdams actions but to post signs more than 60 days before election day. Taken today, September 5. Sixty more days would be Monday November 4.

People on Nextdoor say it’s been up since at least Sunday September 1.

It seems that a certain council member, a woman of supposedly impeccable standing, has dared to flout the very rules she is sworn to uphold. This audacious individual has been caught red-handed, brazenly erecting signs on public property long before the designated start date.

One cannot help but wonder if this flagrant disregard for the law is a mere oversight, or perhaps a calculated attempt to gain a competitive edge. After all, when one is hand-picked by existing council members, it is easy to believe oneself above the common rabble.

This council member’s feeble excuses for her transgressions are as laughable as they are insulting. They begin with a feigned ignorance of the misdemeanor, following on with a claim that it was the unknown act of an over-zealous supporter, and ending with a defiant but false assertion that the property owner’s permission was granted.

It is truly a scandal that such a person holds a position of power. Let us hope that justice will prevail, and that this individual will be held accountable for her actions.

Are the esteemed council members and mayor willing to turn a blind eye to this or hold their appointed peer accountable to the high standards of appropriate behavior of someone in office?

Wouldn’t a rail-like system work on existing rails? Only in service during rush hours and sits empty the rest of the day?

Newsom Robbing Gas Tax

The project calls for constructing a 12-foot-wide reversible busway with shoulders along a six-mile section of the TAMC-owned rail line right of way parallel to Highway 1 from Del Monte Boulevard and Palm Avenue in Marina to the Contra Costa Street intersection in Sand City/Seaside, allowing buses to operate in both directions.

The project already has $15 million in allocated Measure X funding, and TAMC and MST are expected to seek about $25 million in state grant funding to cover the remainder of the project’s total capital cost.
