Volunteers Restore Chase Park
City must be too busy with roundabouts or Gaza protests to preserve its natural beauty.
On July 22, with supporters in attendance, nonprofit Pacific Grove Cares unveiled the transformed Chase Park West, which for many years was overgrown with weeds and had generally been ignored. While the park is under the City of Pacific Grove’s purview, and maintenance would otherwise be paid for by taxpayers’ dollars, the group funded the redo through donations.
P.G. Cares founder Peggy Gibbs credited the donors, the most generous of whom were realtor Debby Beck and restaurateur Kevin Phillips. Carmel Cares, a group headed by Dale Byrne, that city’s mayor who was at the ribbon cutting at the park last week, also contributed to the project.

Lovers Point Scene Of Attempted Murder
With “several masked individuals and one person with a gun” it sounds more like someone making a rap video for Tick Tok.
On Nov. 30 at about 11:20 p.m., PG. Police say officers responded to Lovers Point to a report of a disturbance “involving several masked individuals and one person with a gun.” When they arrived, the victim was gone, but they were able to get information the suspects’ vehicles and the direction in which they fled. That led officers to make traffic stops on vehicles matching the descriptions of those that had fled the crime scene. However, because the male victim was not available to identify the people police detained, the occupants were released.
Shark Makes Movie At Lovers Point
Otters and sea lions beware. The more we welcome and protect the prey, the more hunters we will get.

The video, taken on Friday, shows the shark’s dorsal fin and tail appearing out of the water as it swims between the shoreline and the nearby kelp.
Barbara Block is a marine science professor at Stanford University, located at Hopkins Marine Station. Block tells KSBW 8 this is a very common spotting this time of year.
“At this time of year, we have a variety of shark species in the Monterey Bay region, including mako, white sharks, thresher sharks and leopard sharks,” said Block.

Success Lies In Seltzer
Hint, it’s fermented. And we have not yet hit peak “wood fired pizza” with $18.00 breadsticks it seems.

Bringing an effervescence to Lovers Point in Pacific Grove, the California Seltzer Co. has begun filling the space at 631 Ocean View Blvd. to become the first “seltzery” in California.
Veronica Camp, one of the founders of the company, said that during the process of creating the hard seltzer the company is known for, the subject of opening a seltzery was jokingly brought up but gained steam the more the idea was tossed about.
The seltzer is made from fermented cane sugar, a malt base, and the addition of different flavors to create unique profiles, such as hibiscus-lime, pineapple-lemon, and berry-rush, making the seltzer as refreshing as possible and not overly sweet, explained Camp. Hard seltzer refers to the alcohol content, which comes in at 4.5% by volume, similar to what is found in a light beer, but the hard seltzer is under 100 calories, below 2 grams of sugar, and is gluten-free.
Knights Keep The Cave
Lease goes to longtime Pacific Grove business while newcomers named after a location 50 miles away object.
The Pacific Grove City Council last week OK’d a lease with the owners of a popular beachfront business that rents bicycles, kayaks, wetsuits and other recreational equipment out of what’s dubbed “The Cave” at Lovers Point Beach. Council members voted 5-2 Aug. 5 to approve a new lease with Frank and Michelle Knight, who have sold sundries and rented recreation equipment from the city-owned building on Ocean View
Joaquin Sullivan, owner of Big Sur Adventures, which owns a company in the American Tin Cannery that rents out e-bikes, claimed his less than 3-year-old company could “significantly increase revenue” for the city.
Mayor Bill Peake and councilwoman Jenny McAdams voted against the 5-year lease, which ends July 31, 2025.
