Where DID All The Pine Cones Go?

Issue that broke the news about Tom Pollacci is flying off the racks. In bundles of 100.Squirrel Pine Cone

Someone driving a blue pickup truck was spotted at numerous locations around Carmel taking large stacks of Pine Cones. Under California law, it is a misdemeanor to take multiple copies of a free newspaper for the purpose of stopping someone from reading it.

One employee, who didn’t want to be identified, said she confronted a man who appeared to be in his 30s, who took a bundle at a Carmel Rancho business.

“I said, ‘You can’t take all of those,’” the clerk said, “and he really didn’t turn around. I said, ‘Excuse me, you can’t take all those; you can only have one.’ I said, ‘Why do you want all of them?’ And he said, ‘Just to have them.’”

Was all over the Peninsula, not just P.G.

Like boycotting the “We Don’t Serve Your Kind Here” ice cream shoppee, it’s an attention getter in P.G.

The anonymous group called Peninsula Mothers United to Protect our Children sent out emails to the news media on their cause. They say, “We demand that the Pollacci family sell the business. And we also demand that Tom Pollacci stay out of Pacific Grove.”

Pollacci calls the Pebble Beach area home.

The email from the concerned mothers continues on, claiming, “He hangs out on the sidewalk harassing girls who walk by.”

Pollacci Parking For Rape Victims

Police tracked down Pollacci after he reportedly left the woman at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with a head injury. In the following months, they gathered evidence — including having forensics specialists sweep the Lighthouse Avenue liquor store where he works — and interviewed the victim, who is not from the area.

Neither officers, nor the district attorney’s office, would reveal any further details of the case. Pollacci, who police said is a registered sex offender, is set to appear in a Salinas courtroom at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, for his arraignment

Tom Pollacci Arrested For Rape

The Pacific Grove Police Department has announced Thomas Ronald Pollacci, 49, of Pebble Beach, turned himself in to Seaside Police on Monday after a $300,000 arrest warrant was issued for his alleged involvement in a forcible rape reported to Pacific Grove Police in April 2008.

The case was investigated by Pacific Grove police detectives, and filed with the District Attorney’s Office, following the examination and analysis of related forensic evidence, Pacific Grove police said.

Pollacci posted his bail and was released from custody pending his arraignment, police said.

Liquor Store Owner Opposes Farmers Market

What’s behind Ron’s Liquors? A huge free parking lot. People in need of liquor, cigarettes and porn will not be slowed down by a bunch of veggie lovers.

On June 4, the Pacific Grove City Council approved an ordinance allowing public gatherings on Lighthouse, a prerequisite for the farmers market.

But Lighthouse Avenue merchants say the market will hurt them.

“It was supposed to come to town and be something positive for the city,” said liquor store owner David Pollacci.

Instead, he said, it will take business away from merchants.

His business, Ron’s Liquors at 613 Lighthouse Ave., loses 30 percent to 40 percent of its business on days when the street is closed — Good Old Days, the Butterfly Parade, car rallies, the Christmas Parade of Lights and similar events. Pollacci said he doesn’t mind giving up sales from time to time, but shutting down the street once a week would be too big a loss.
