The Dilworth Phenomenon

Dapper Dilworth

The San Francisco Chronicle printed side-by-side pictures this week of two prominent Monterey Peninsula residents.

On the right was Clint Eastwood, an international movie star, Oscar-winning director, conservationist, philanthropist, former Mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, land owner, developer, partner in the Pebble Beach Co., and one of the driving forces behind that company’s plan to eliminate potential homesites in Del Monte Forest while building a new golf course and hotel rooms.

On the left was David Dilworth, a high school graduate whose personal accomplishments wouldn’t fill a postage stamp.

Last weekend, the Herald even bestowed an advanced education on Dilworth, calling him an “environmental biologist.” Never mind that he doesn’t actually have so much as a bachelor’s degree in any scientific field.

What Dilworth does have is a lot of opinions and a lot of free time on his hands.

Attention Whore.

The Dilworth Phenomenon

Dilworth Says NO To Christmas Lights

See failed council member candidate David Dilworth at the podium on the meeting of December 6?

Dilworth Warning

Spouting propaganda about “light pollution” in large cities masking out the twinkling stars at night. Makes about as much sense in foggy P.G. as solar heat. You’d think he’d bring this up in the fall or spring when the skies are not fogged in or filled with storm clouds. But no, he tries to make you feel guilty for having Christmas lights up. Guilty for admiring Candy Cane Lane, as if it was killing of otters or causing monarchs to go sterile.

I used to think Dil was just another kook. Now I think he is just another America hater. I’m going to Walmart and buying a few hundred C7s on strings for the yard, eaves, trees and whatever else needs to be Christmasy.

Dilworth Says NO To Christmas Lights

Widen Holman Highway?

Several residents of Crest Road, a Pebble Beach street that runs parallel to Holman Highway, said noise from the highway is already disruptive. Building two more highway lanes will create more noise. Some residents said a sound wall should be part of the project.

David Dilworth, a Pacific Grove environmental activist, also said other alternatives need to be explored. “Pacific Grove is essentially an island,” Dilworth said. “You are only dealing with what one lane is doing.”

68 At Chomp

On one hand we have the Chamber of Commerce begging people to come to PG and shop, and on the other we have the gadfly “environmental activist” that will make you sit in traffic jams, breathing excess exhaust.

One: It’s only to the most busy part of the road – CHOMP.
Two: The Pebble Beach residents bought homes NEXT TO A STATE HIGHWAY. To expect tranquility there is just stupid.

Widen Holman Highway?

Election Time Again

So, who is candidate David Dilworth and does he really live in PG? He touts honest government, but it sure looks like something is hiding…

First, he’s always at council meetings with his single topic of open government, hug the trees, etc. In all the meetings I have watched him speak at I’ve never heard him say he is from Pacific Grove. His non-profit lists a 624 (Carmel) prefix and a Carmel PO Box..
Hopeee

David’s sites are pretty minimal, looks like 1996 vintage Geocities. Wonder how much HOPE pays Dilworth for those bad copy/pasted web pages?

His businesses – Sometimes known as Common Sense Software here shown as “Dilworth Software & Web Design”, also uses the same Carmel phone & address:
Dilworth Software Design

Another Dilworth for-profit, using the same resources at the non-profit:
Inspiring Landscape Address

Searching the web comes back Carmel, Carmel and more Carmel, check the web domain register for the for profit photo business. Whoaaaa! The makings of a TRUE conspiracy – registered to David bilworth?
Inspiring Landscape Whois

The seat-hopeful’s campaign site – oooh – same mistake, same Carmel address and phone number..
Dilworth To Lead Whois

OK, OK. Dil comes out and puts a PG address of 166 17 Mile Drive as his home:
Dilworth To Lead

Wait!! That’s the raccoon hugger ex-councilman Terrance Zito’s address!! What’s going on here???
Zito16617md

Sound like open honest leadership??

Is the man another constant runner/loser kook? Touts free Internet and free cable TV. The city can’t even keep the sewers flowing and he wants taxpayers to support free to all TV and Internet.
Free Tv

No Cost? Who pays for the infrastructure? Who pays for the power to keep the cable system working? Who pays the workers that maintain it? Cable TV and Internet is not a non-profit. It’s a business that expects to make money from it’s investments.

And city dictated franchises are out. It’s statewide now thanks to AT&T.

Affordability is not the issue. It’s that there is nobody in PG’s vacation homes that cares to see city council meetings or subscribe to cable TV. (few people care to watch public access altogether, but that’s another story)

So, lets solve hunger by making Trader Joe’s give free food to everyone. Force ‘Sustainable Pacific Grove’ to generate enough power to give everyone free electricity. Free water. Ban Cars. Replace buses with horse and buggies. Remove all the evil petrochemical asphalt and return to dirt roads. Uh huh, like it’s 1985 again, and the weird candidates are back.

Election Time Again

Cort, Davis Fill Mayor & Council Seats

Cort was chosen as mayor last month by fellow council members to complete the term of Jim Costello, who resigned in May for health reasons.

Davis got the minimum of four votes needed for election. Councilwoman Lisa Bennett was absent.

The other applicants were David Dilworth, executive director of Helping Our Peninsula’s Environment; Victoria Stilwell, owner of The Woodenickel; Lee Willoughby, co-director of the Pacific Grove-based Tidepool Coalition; and residents Carmelita Garcia, Albert Zuniga and Mitchell Matthews.

Dilworth withdrew his name from consideration as his interview began and threw his support behind Willoughby.

C’mon Dilworth, don’t cut and run, try and finish what you start.

Tidepool Police Blather

I’m going to miss Mayor Costello’s words at the 3 minute mark . .

Jim Willoughby steps up to blather his own agenda against letting people walk on the beaches
Willoughby

When he’s cut off by Costello, Lee Willoughby cheats the 3 minute limit and picks up where Jim off with nary a miss in the scripted blather
Lee Willoughby

When Lee is ousted, David Dilworth wastes precious time chastising the Mayor for ejecting the tidepool police

Dilworth
Causing Dilworth to lose precious time and get cut off before he can finish his personal issues at the podium.
