Californian Tests Positive For Zika Virus

Not to be confused with Zito Virus which causes one to hug disease releasing raccoons.

The resident had recently traveled out of the country and contracted the Zika virus. Zika is spread through mosquito bites.

We think it’s only a matter of time before the viruses and the mosquitoes in California get together, and that we have infected mosquitoes, and that there’s local transmission. But this won’t be a very frequent occurrence,” Santa Cruz county mosquito and vector control manager Paul Binding said.

It’s possible that a traveler infected with the virus could be bitten by a local mosquito and that mosquito could bite someone else, further transmitting the virus.

Mayor Cort Quits As Promised

Dan Cort Bailin Like Palin

Cort declared he would resign early last month after activist David Dilworth and former Councilman Terrance Zito threatened a recall campaign against him if he didn’t resign immediately. Cort said at the time that the threat wasn’t his reason for leaving office.

Dilworth declined to comment on Cort’s resignation or recall plans, and Zito was unavailable.

The appointment of the city manager, which began after previous manager Jim Colangelo resigned in January — is still unresolved.

Now can the town somehow get some leadership? Leadership that has no kooky sustainable agendas, no personal gains, nothing but serious plans to serve the city’s residents first?

Letters From The Editor – Who Sticks Up For Dilworth?

His partner, the raccoon hugging ex-councilperson Terrence Zito.

David Dilworth is without doubt one of Pacific Grove’s finest native sons! His achievements in the areas of environment and democracy are legendary. No one attends as many local and area-wide meetings as Dave, not to further his own interests, but looking out for his fellow citizens and their quality of life.

another political twist as Mayor Dan Cort has announced his intent to resign. It comes after the kick-off for a grassroots recall campaign on Tuesday.

Cort was re-elected as Mayor in November. According to a letter he wrote, he will resign effective August 31st. He calls the current situation a “negative environment” and the actions by his opponents “intimidating.”

His two page letter also addresses the bigger picture for the city. “I do not believe it is in the best interest of the City and it’s citizens, to spend the next six to twelve months distracted by a recall effort,” says Cort.

The two man group speaking out in the recall campaign is activist David Dilworth and former council member Terrence Zito. Coincidentally, Dilworth also ran for a seat on the city council in November. He was not elected.

Election Time Again

So, who is candidate David Dilworth and does he really live in PG? He touts honest government, but it sure looks like something is hiding…

First, he’s always at council meetings with his single topic of open government, hug the trees, etc. In all the meetings I have watched him speak at I’ve never heard him say he is from Pacific Grove. His non-profit lists a 624 (Carmel) prefix and a Carmel PO Box..
Dilworth in Carmel

David’s sites are pretty minimal, looks like 1996 vintage Geocities. Wonder how much HOPE pays Dilworth for those bad copy/pasted web pages?

His businesses – Sometimes known as Common Sense Software here shown as “Dilworth Software & Web Design”, also uses the same Carmel phone & address:

Another Dilworth for-profit, using the same resources at the non-profit:
inspl and addr

Searching the web comes back Carmel, Carmel and more Carmel, check the web domain register for the for profit photo business. Whoaaaa! The makings of a TRUE conspiracy – registered to David bilworth?
Dilworth Who is

The seat-hopeful’s campaign site – oooh – same mistake, same Carmel address and phone number..
dil tle ad whois

OK, OK. Dil comes out and puts a PG address of 166 17 Mile Drive as his home:
Dilworth to lead 17 Mile Dr

Wait!! That’s the raccoon hugger ex-councilman Terrance Zito’s address!! What’s going on here???
Zito 166 17 Mile Dr

Sound like open honest leadership??

Is the man another constant runner/loser kook? Touts free Internet and free cable TV. The city can’t even keep the sewers flowing and he wants taxpayers to support free to all TV and Internet.
Dilworth free tv

No Cost? Who pays for the infrastructure? Who pays for the power to keep the cable system working? Who pays the workers that maintain it? Cable TV and Internet is not a non-profit. It’s a business that expects to make money from it’s investments.

And city dictated franchises are out. It’s statewide now thanks to AT&T.

Affordability is not the issue. It’s that there is nobody in PG’s vacation homes that cares to see city council meetings or subscribe to cable TV. (few people care to watch public access altogether, but that’s another story)

So, lets solve hunger by making Trader Joe’s give free food to everyone. Force ‘Sustainable Pacific Grove’ to generate enough power to give everyone free electricity. Free water. Ban Cars. Replace buses with horse and buggies. Remove all the evil petrochemical asphalt and return to dirt roads. Uh huh, like it’s 1985 again, and the weird candidates are back.
