Can I sue someone who says or writes something defamatory about me?
In order to prove defamation, you have to prove that what was said or written about you was false. If the information is true, or if you consented to publication of the material, you will not have a case.

Rounding up butterflies can be as difficult as herding cats. Ventana Wildlife Society biologists gathered in Pacific Grove early Tuesday, intent on catching, tagging and releasing at least 1,000 of the estimated 6,000 monarch butterflies clustered in the Monarch Grove Sanctuary’s eucalyptus trees. The butterflies did not make themselves too available.
Only 500 were resting in the trees on the 2½-acre sanctuary. The rest congregated in pine trees on adjacent private properties, which were off-limits to the research team.

Alan Shugart, a Pebble Beach resident who co-founded Seagate Technology LLC and made a name for himself when his dog ran for Congress, died Tuesday at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
Shugart was 76. He helped start Seagate Technology in 1979, a pioneering hard-drive manufacturer that eventually became a multibillion-dollar industry.
Shugart was a partner in the Fandango restaurant, ran his dog Earnest for public office and contributed to a comic strip about Earnest.
Rest in peace – one of my heroes.
Pacific Grove police are investigating a false bomb threat to Pacific Grove High School called in about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.
An unidentified male caller used a stolen cell phone to dial 9-1-1, say there was a bomb at the school and warn that “everyone is going to die,” police said.
A ruptured water heater forced the shutdown of radio station KAZU early this morning, said the station’s general manager.
The water heater was located directly above the station’s master control and broadcast operations center and the water poured directly on the equipment, destroying some of it.
KAZU has had a run of bad luck, after a fire in downtown PG, and this is the second flood at the present location. Perhaps the Chamber Of Commerce can raise some funds to buy KAZU a couple of umbrellas to put over the control board.
The idea is controversial in a town that prides itself on being “America’s Last Hometown.”
Those opposed to adding parking meters downtown, at Lovers Point and along parts of Central Avenue said it will take away from the city’s charm. “I don’t want it in the downtown area. It would lose all its ambiance,” store owner Dee Moore said.Others said they worry shoppers won’t want to pay for parking in front of downtown shops.
The so called ambiance was lost long ago, chopped up, sold, painted over and resold. It was replaced by by phony charm that requires sandwich board signs to direct you to the merchandise you just cannot live without. Bah! Anything worth spending money on should stand on it’s own.
For one, the meters may increase the the number of spaces available as cheap merchants quit parking their cars all day long in prime spaces
Though I think we would need 3000 meters to make $6,000,000. There’s reportedly 100 meters by the ATC that bring in $1,800 per year per meter.

Spouting propaganda about “light pollution” in large cities masking out the twinkling stars at night. Makes about as much sense in foggy P.G. as solar heat. You’d think he’d bring this up in the fall or spring when the skies are not fogged in or filled with storm clouds. But no, he tries to make you feel guilty for having Christmas lights up. Guilty for admiring Candy Cane Lane, as if it was killing of otters or causing monarchs to go sterile.
I used to think Dil was just another kook. Now I think he is just another America hater. I’m going to Walmart and buying a few hundred C7s on strings for the yard, eaves, trees and whatever else needs to be Christmasy.

There’s another ‘Bistro’. Must be the latest fad name for tiny restaurant, with a name that implies “Yes, we have alcohol”. People in PG are sometimes still afraid of the old blue laws.
Bistros, Trattorias, Taquerias, Pubs, Sports Bars. Whatever.
Scotch Bistro – er Bakery has scraped the “Scotch Bakery” lettering from the windows, readying the former landmark to disappear for good.
