We Knew This Was Coming, Right?
After hanging a banner counting down the days until the May 25th doomsday, they come back from ruin to have an “Emergency Reopening Sale”. Does still having an inventory of unsold overpriced furniture constitute an emergency? Just close the place already.
I’d say something about buying from a closing store, the hazards of not being able to contact anyone when a table leg falls off your $1,800 coffee table, but these places never really close.
The exact same thing the other constantly “going out of business” furniture store did in February 2008.

There’s lots of concern over carbon emissions and other mythical hazards, but still there every day, putting real health hazards at your feet (and hands, arms, head etc) is the healthy seagull population. The gulls are well fed by the downtown merchants (and even the city this year) that leave garbage uncovered.

Keep a watch on Zacolo, Lighthouse Cafe, Peppers, Grapes O Wrath, etc. New to the game this year is the City Of P.G. with their own sidewalk garbage. 3 cans in a row on Lighthouse with no covers. Way to go P.G.
Going, Going, Gone – French Glass Building
The new plan includes 14 luxury apartments, combined with 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space. But it could be a bold business endeavor considering the signs nearby. Closed windows on boarded up buildings and other properties still for lease.
At least when built, this building full of empty storefronts and ‘For Rent’ signs will be shiny and new.
Longtime anchor at the end of Lighthouse Ave has been empty over a year and finally changes. Changes from interesting 50s – 60s metal siding to piles of rubble. Interesting that it looks to be several buildings that were wrapped in siding to appear as one. Used to be my favorite store for window & screen repairs.

Charge rent for businesses obstructing the sidewalks for commercial gain – here’s over 100 square feet of prime property – public property going for free.

Next block, the crumbling red house another 20 sq. ft.
And the ghetto news racks, 25 sq. ft.

Over in New Monterey, Nevada Bob packed up and went back to Winnemucca.
One Perpetual Going Out Of Business store maintains is presence for the last two years. Only 26 days left. Do they really mean it?
The other Perpetual Going Out Of Business has not put up any signs stating it yet, but it appears that the landlord knows it already.
