There’s lots of concern over carbon emissions and other mythical hazards, but still there every day, putting real health hazards at your feet (and hands, arms, head etc) is the healthy seagull population. The gulls are well fed by the downtown merchants (and even the city this year) that leave garbage uncovered.

We can always count on Fandangos on 17th Street to leave the finest garbage out in the open

Keep a watch on Zacolo, Lighthouse Cafe, Peppers, Grapes O Wrath, etc. New to the game this year is the City Of P.G. with their own sidewalk garbage. 3 cans in a row on Lighthouse with no covers. Way to go P.G.

Going, Going, Gone – French Glass Building

The new plan includes 14 luxury apartments, combined with 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space. But it could be a bold business endeavor considering the signs nearby. Closed windows on boarded up buildings and other properties still for lease.

At least when built, this building full of empty storefronts and ‘For Rent’ signs will be shiny and new.

Longtime anchor at the end of Lighthouse Ave has been empty over a year and finally changes. Changes from interesting 50s – 60s metal siding to piles of rubble. Interesting that it looks to be several buildings that were wrapped in siding to appear as one. Used to be my favorite store for window & screen repairs.

Happy Easter. It’s the menu from a chain restaurant of 35 years ago. Who knows the location? Or the other locations?

I never knew I had this document of cheap eats from the groovy 70s. I did work there, was not a good experience, hours were low and paychecks would bounce too often.

Good Old Days In The New Century

Yah, all this is sustainable carbon neutral event. Sure.

For more than fifty years it’s been one of the largest music and arts festivals on the Central Coast. It all started with a parade down Pine Avenue Saturday morning; it features carnival rides, hundreds of entertainers, and food.

Special events include a dance competition that’s open to the public. Organizers have tabbed the Good Old Days as a carbon neutral event.

Was crowded – looks like more people in one day than in every farmers market ever held.
