Follow Up: Dumpsters Of Commerce

Posted on 7/21. The County Health Department was called, the city was called. Everyone pledged to crack down on the sloppy restaurants poor housekeeping habits. I ported the story over on the Pacificgrove.com message board and it was picked up by the Weakly.

Well, nothing has improved. Recommendation, avoid downtown at all cost. Anything you touch will be diseased. Restaurants are not keeping wet garbage covered as per health regulations, who knows what other safety rules they overlook. Is the food covered? Is the mayonnaise kept at the correct temp? Are the dishes cleaned within spec? The mind fills with doubt.

Fandango’s 8/10, See the locking bar?? Use it.

Stamm Thought Being Homosexual Was Bad For The Business

David Stamm

The link to the KSBW story has links to all of their reports on Stamm.

On the witness stand, Stamm said he had sex with the alleged victim on at least four occasions, but he said it was consensual and only happened after the alleged victim turned 18.

Stamm said that story started going around town and that’s when he offered to pay the alleged victim $5,000 to recant.

Stamm said he’s gay and he hid his homosexuality because if it got out he feared it would ruin a batting cages business he once owned.

(W)Rec Trail For Sale

Rec Trail Asilomar

Union Pacific Railroad is offering its former rail line in Pacific Grove’s Asilomar area for sale, with an asking price of $1.6 million.

The property includes a .69 acre lot at Crocker and Sinex avenues that may be suitable for building. A railroad station once stood on the corner, according to Union Pacific spokeswoman Zoe Richmond in Sacramento.

The total 9.12 acre property stretches from Sinex Avenue to the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course, but most of it is “very thin,” she said, “not something for development.”

Union Pacific put the property up for sale about eight years ago,

Why didn’t P.G. buy it back then when there was money in the bank?

Election 2008 – Eight Candidates For Council

Vote Machine

. . seeking three seats being vacated by incumbents Scott Miller, Dan Davis and Susan Nilmeier:

Former Councilwoman Susan Goldbeck, and newcomers Richard Ahart, Ken Cunio, David Dilworth, Carmelita Garcia, Bill Kampe, Deborah Lindsay and Dan Miller.

Pacific Grove voters will vote on two ballot measures: Measure X, calling for a $35 parcel tax for the next five years for the Pacific Grove Unified School District;

Can’t say that I’d support another school tax. That $6,000,000 stadium at PGHS and $1,700,000 district offices tells me that there is plenty enough money going to the school district.

Rescue At Sea!

The Coast Guard received a distress call at about 1:10 p.m. from the “Blue Chip”, a boat 17 feet long with two passengers on board that was disabled and adrift 80 nautical miles west of Point Pinos.

The Coast Guard asked any vessels in the area to divert to the skiff’s location if possible.

The “Golden Bear,” returning from a two-month international training cruise, responded to the call at about 4 p.m. and agreed to assist. The training ship brought the two sailors safely onboard at about 9:55 p.m., according to the Coast Guard.

A big salute to the academy.

Breaker Stadium 6 Million

Carpenters Union – Lost 51% if certification elections in 2006.

In a suit filed Aug. 5, Carpenters Local Union 605 contends DMC Construction — the firm hired by PGUSD for the stadium redo — did not show proof that a portion of its subcontractors for the project are disabled veterans, which is required by the state.

DMC general manager Mark Lord said Thursday there had been a clerical error in DMC’s paperwork for the bid, but that matter had been resolved.

While limited emergency repairs were approved by the California Coastal Commission in early 2004, the process for gaining approval for the entire project involved several federal, state and local agencies.

The city will be seeking donations — an additional $192,000 — to complete the projects.

Squids Got Internet!

Squid

Squid has been stuck to the edge of Squid’s seat– mainly to stave off “office butt”– while following three pigeon poop threads on the P.G. message board www.morriefisher.com.

But nastiness crept into the thread when Palmer posted a Photoshopped picture of P.G. Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar (who is of Lebanese ancestry) in an Iraqi official’s uniform, to which Guest1 replied, “Nice photo of Mohamad!” Colburn responded with more Photoshop art, this one depicting Ammar’s head on a Lebanese Army soldier’s body.

Squid thinks that load stinks worse than pigeon poop.

No, the Chamber Of Commerce’s propaganda and fear mongering stink more than pigeon poop. The Iraqi satire was of “Baghdad Bob” (who in real life is known as Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, the guy that stands in front of cameras proclaiming victory over the US) since Moe stands up and makes stupid statements praising the Chamber. The other is of Muammar al-Gaddafi, the terrorist dictator. The names are similar. And Moe is a bit of a socialist dictator, IMO

P.G. To Report It’s Greenhouse Gases

Twenty-one cities were announced yesterday, with at least nine others expected to take part in the pilot project. Each city will assemble comparable carbon emission data within their jurisdiction’s operations–for instance, fire department, ambulance and police services, municipal buildings, waste transport and other services the cities provide or activities over which they exercise budgetary control.

Like the businesses who have joined the CDP program, the cities involved will be able to learn from peers about dealing with the risks and opportunities climate change presents.

The other cities participating include: Albany, NY; Albuquerque, NM; Anchorage, AK; Arlington, VA; Burlington, VT; Dubuque, IA; Edina, MN; Fairfield, IA; Haverford, PA; Las Vegas, NV; New Orleans, LA; North Little Rock, AR; Pacific Grove, CA; Park City, UT; Rohnert Park, CA; Saint Paul, MN; Washougal, WA; and West Palm Beach, FL.

How much greenhouse gas is emitted by Sustainable P.G.’s The Brown Green Spot barbecue pits and tiki torches? Them’s hydrocarbons brah!
