Moe Ammar In Deep Denial

Moe Ammar, President of the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce, says “We are doing everything we can think of to encourage people to bring their businesses to Pacific Grove.”

Ammar pointed out that all business properties on the main street of Forest Avenue are occupied.

Well . . another art gallery on Forest Avenue is out of business after 11 months, on the same day as the Chamber mouthpiece paper’s publish date. Not that art galleries add any real commerce – this one is closed for good is closed only 4 hours more per day than the rest.

Using the art gallery practice, Moe can put an empty folding chair in every empty store front and call them “occupied”.

Chamber Of Commerce Gives “Best Motel” Award

Tripadvisor reviews for Pacific Gardens Inn  say “dog friendly – pack your earplugs”.

“I wanted to hit the boards running,” he explained. “So I decided and it was agreed that I could first spend time at the lodge as an employee, learning the business on-site from the ground up. I did this undercover. None of the 13 staffers there knew that I was the future owner. For eight months I did just about everything, manned the front desk, served breakfast, swept floors and cleaned up, whatever.”

When Boerner took possession of the inn, the facility was ranked No. 13 in customer service by Tripadvisor.com, a hospitality Web site. Today, Pacific Gardens Inn has achieved a No. 1 ranking.

When Moe Gives Advice, Ignore It

Moe Ammar Dont Buy American

Chamber Of Commerce is actually discouraging people to take advantage of all the empty stores? Yet something as out there as a picture frame shop is thriving..

Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar said the business climate is particularly challenging, and he discouraged more than a few would-be entrepreneurs from launching a business because of timing.

Still, there are small-business owners such as Gobel who are finding ways to flourish. Some are launching first-time ventures. Others with established businesses are finding opportunities in expansion and acquisition.

No Lambos On Our Golf Course

Laguna Seca is a more perfect name for sports car events.

The biggest luxury Italian car show on the Central Coast will be rolling onto the golf links of Laguna Seca in Monterey.

Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar said they hope the show will come to their links in the future.

“It’s not a dead deal,” said Ammar.

Ammar said the Pacific Grove golf course is also a good location. He said the course’s pristine oceanfront property and it’s location to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance makes it a prime spot.

Car Event Stalls Like A V12 In A Sand Trap – Needs Environmental Impact Report

When will Moammar turn to improving commerce for locals? Everything the guy does is to bring more transients to town. It’s time to boot the guy out. First cut I’d make.

Chamber of commerce president Moe Ammar said the main reason the show — which attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators — is in jeopardy is that an environmental impact report might be needed before it can be permitted to move to P.G.

“With all the requirements with getting a permit,” Ammar said, “it’s highly unlikely the event will happen this year.”

In 2008, the city council said it didn’t want the Concorso to move to town because of concerns about golf-course damage from cars, traffic and other issues. But with the city’s economy hurting because of the global downturn, Ammar believes the council would change its mind.

Commercial Filming Shuts Down Lighthouse Avenue

Said to be an AT$T Commercial, two days of shutdown from Congress Ave to 19th St. Some stores were compensated, others were not.

Ammar said he personally notified every business in the area about the commercial and that streets would be closed.

One store owner, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he lost an estimated $700 in the two days the commercial was being shot because of the street closures. The owner said he was never notified the streets were going to be closed.

Besides closing the main street and tying up traffic, the commercial filmed Monday and Tuesday for AT&T cellular phone service blocked off dozens of parking spaces. But it also brought dozens of technicians and actors to town as the production company, Smuggler, shot scenes at the Red House Cafe, Miss Trawick’s Garden Shop and other P.G. locations.

“It was the best thing that happened to P.G. this year,” said Moe Ammar, president of the chamber of commerce. “It was very exciting for P.G. to see Hollywood here.”

Pacific Grove Employee Of The Year

Not every day that the parking enforcement person is honored.

Tony Marino, community services officer for the Pacific Grove Police Department, has been named City Employee of the Year by the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce.

Announcement of the award was made by Moe Ammar, chamber president, who said Marino was selected by the chamber board for his contributions to improving the quality of life in Pacific Grove beyond the call of duty.

Oh, it’s awarded by the Chamber O Commerce. Is that why businesses owners can leave their cars parked in 2-hour spaces all day and not get ticketed? Is it a perk of being a chamber member?

P.G. Motels Unable To Fleece People 3 Weekends In A Row

Remember all those outrageous rates and forced 3 day stays? Karma.

Cry Baby

The lost potential for multiple sold-out February weekends is hitting local businesses hard, Moe Ammar, president of the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce, said.

“From a business perspective, it’s really, really bad,” he said. “There are a lot of unhappy hotel owners.”

Typically, this February weekend at the Seven Gables Inn would be all about Valentine’s Day.

The bed and breakfast, just off Lovers Point in Pacific Grove, bills itself as “a truly romantic inn on the very edge of Monterey Bay.”

This week, however, things are a bit more complicated: Bookings are about equally split between the romantic getaway crowd and those here to take in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Chamber Of Commerce Trying To Bring Concorso Italiano Again

How do we define ‘green’? Is it carbon credits and no styrofoam or is it money, money, money from gross polluters?

Remember the Melange posh is out!
Red Ferraris On Golf Course

There is a renewed drive to bring the Concorso Italiano to Pacific Grove, nearly one year after the city council said it didn’t think the posh car event was appropriate for the town.

In November, Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar approached Concorso owner Jack Wadsworth with the idea to bring a slightly scaled-down version of the car event to the city’s municipal golf course.

“I wrote him a letter and I convinced him to [again] consider Pacific Grove,” Ammar said.

Liberals Circle the Wagons in Butterfly Town USA

(American Chronicle)
Ice Cream Shoppe

Interesting viewpoint that is not normally found..

I located Sgt. Williams, and he told me the name of the eatery, that it was an ice cream shop and he had been called a “baby killer” by the owner. Professor Toro´s column was carefully crafted to not disclose the exact nature of the eatery, and my e-mail to the columnist asking for the business´s name was never answered.

So the liberal local press and Chamber of Commerce are circling the wagons to protect the ice cream shop owner mostly from himself, I suspect. The owner needs sensitivity training on how to treat soldiers the same way liberals would have conservatives do when they say something politically incorrect about minorities, gays or militant Muslims.
