The lost potential for multiple sold-out February weekends is hitting local businesses hard, Moe Ammar, president of the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce, said.

“From a business perspective, it’s really, really bad,” he said. “There are a lot of unhappy hotel owners.”

Typically, this February weekend at the Seven Gables Inn would be all about Valentine’s Day.

The bed and breakfast, just off Lovers Point in Pacific Grove, bills itself as “a truly romantic inn on the very edge of Monterey Bay.”

This week, however, things are a bit more complicated: Bookings are about equally split between the romantic getaway crowd and those here to take in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

  1. I saw Green Gables Inn accounting paper on the sidewalk once, they took in $3,000 per day.

    Seven Gables Inn should be investigated for renting houses (You can see them right next to the Inn) for short terms- if that is what they are doing, which would violate PG’s short term renting laws.
