Pacific Gove residents are most interested in using nearly $2 million in federal Covid-19 aid the city is getting to fund upgrades to streets, intersections and sidewalks and least interested in using the money for government technology upgrades, according to the results of a survey from 847 people.

The survey asked citizens to rank how they would like the federal taxpayer dollars to be spent on a scale of 1-5. Public infrastructure received the strongest responses and got a 3.7 average rating.

“Our legal strategy is to work with the City of Pacific Grove, the Ohlone Costanoan Esselen Nation, and the California Coastal Commission to demonstrate that the Public Buildings Reform Board failed to engage with local stakeholders, as legally required, when it recommended inclusion of the NOAA property in the portfolio of ‘high value’ properties to be sold through the Federal Assets Sale Transfer Act,” the group explained. “Perhaps more importantly, the board issued a report in December 2021 explicitly stating that the Pacific Grove property does not meet its current evaluation criteria for a ‘high value’ property. “

Isn’t it about time for Jenny McAdams stop self rewarding herself on our dime and do something for all the citizens of Pacific Grove?

McAdams also proposed giving council members medical benefits. If the council OKs the raise and all seven council members enroll in the health plan, it would cost taxpayers about $178,000 per year with increases in future years.

“A family with two working parents and young children often cannot afford to dedicate the time required to serve on council,” Tomlinson told The Pine Cone. “In general, increasing pay will give more citizens the opportunity to serve, and this will increase the candidate pool come election time. This is very good for P.G.”

On Dec. 25 at about 9 a.m., Pacific Grove police officers were called to Arkwright Court after a woman in her 50s complained of being attacked. The victim, who was not named, was transported to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for treatment, but the extent of her injuries isn’t clear.

“The suspect attacked the victim, hitting her to the ground, and kicked her several times in the head” as she was “lying on the ground,” the PGPD said in a police log entry. The suspect, also a woman, fled the scene prior to police arriving.

A stately but decaying elm in Pacific Grove that was at the center of a debate over  preservation versus public safety was removed from Jewell Park late last week.

On Friday, Dec. 17, a work crew chopped down the 40-foot elm, which a group of residents had tried to save but which the City of Pacific Grove said posed a danger to the public. A legal  battle was waged when Patricia Purwin and Charles Schwartz sued the city in hopes of stopping its removal. That fight ended Dec. 16 when. Monterey County Superior Court Judge Thomas Wills declined to temporarily restrain the city from taking the tree down.

Jenny McAdams Ignores The Woke Groups She “Cares” So Much For

Went to a conference and failed to show up for a vote. No doubt she must have been politickin’ or something at the cost of over $4,5000 in Pacific Grove money. I’d demand she pay it back.

However, according to League of California Cities official Darla Yacub, who ran the voting booth at the conference, McAdams never voted — meaning she did not fulfill her obligation as Pacific Grove’s delegate. Voting took place Sept. 24, the last day of the  conference.

“Jenny McAdams did not vote at the general assembly business meeting for the 2021 annual conference,” Yacub said in a Nov. 10 email message to city manager Ben Harvey. “There was neither a signature form completed by Jenny McAdams, nor was the ballot for the City of Pacific Grove picked up.”

McAdams and other delegates were asked to vote on amendments to the League of California Cities’ bylaws, which included recognizing the “full contribution” of its African-American, Asian-Pacific Islander, LGBTQ, Latino and Women’s caucuses, and broadening the groups’ representation on the league’s board of directors.

A Pacific Grove councilwoman who has passionately urged citizens to get vaccinated against Covid-19 apparently thought it was so important that she misrepresented her son’s age to get him inoculated against the disease. Multiple sources told The Pine Cone that Jenny McAdams, 46, first elected to the council in 2018, admitted to them that she misled health officials so her youngest son could get immunized. The Food and Drug Administration has only authorized the vaccine for children 12 years and older, but McAdams’ kid — an elementary school student — is several years younger than that.

In an Aug. 25 civil complaint, Blue Wave Enterprises
and Jon Kramer contend that when they tried to submit
an application for the three-unit hotel at 176 Central Ave.,
city hall refused “to accept and process” the document.
The lawsuit argues the hotel should be allowed per Pacific
Grove’s local coastal plan.

Kramer first proposed a mixed-use development, in
cluding two residential units and a retail space. City staff
told him that he could not pursue the project because of
zoning issues. Kramer issued revised plans without the
residential units and replaced them with hotel rooms. The
city turned that request down, too, also citing zoning.
“City staff instead suggested that petitioners pursue
a subsequent ballot initiative to allow a hotel use on the
property, or to bring forward a new project consistent”
