Riley Elvin is in Monterey County Jail on multiple charges, but school administrators said they fear Elvin could try to make good on his threats when he is eventually released. On Nov. 21 at 10:45 a.m., Elvin, 28, trespassed on the P.G. High School campus, entered the library and asked the
librarian for a student ID card.

The Mayor of Pacific Grove said the city is extending the deadline for residents to apply for seats on its boards, commissions and committees.
Regarding the DEI task force, one position has been unfilled for months while two other spots will become open when terms for chair Kim Bui and vice chair Nadja Mark expire in January. The task force has had an especially difficult t time retaining members. In January, two new people were appointed to serve until 2025, but they were both gone by August,

Pacific Grove Police have not publicly addressed the decision by prosecutors not to charge the two women. But the police department has not said it’s looking for anybody else in the case.
The PGPD, which has been even more secretive than usual, has also refused to tell the public what happened during the incident, why they believe it amounted to attempted murder and how the women were involved.
At least her Monterey home is closer than the ex-City Manager’s. 
Earlier this month, Madalone again said she was working from home. And this week, in response to questions about the date she began working remotely, the nature of her injury and when she expected to return to work, she said the answers would reveal “confidential medical and personnel information.”

Elvin, who court records show has a lengthy criminal record and a history of mental illness and drug use, was charged with felony criminal threats and a misdemeanor
of illegally entering school grounds. He remains in Monterey County Jail.While Elvin has pleaded not guilty to the crimes, his deputy public defender during a Dec. 6 court hearing in Salinas expressed doubt as to his competency and requested that he be required to undergo a psychiatric examination. Monterey County Superior Court Judge Pamela Butler agreed.

On Nov. 30 at about 11:20 p.m., PG. Police say officers responded to Lovers Point to a report of a disturbance “involving several masked individuals and one person with a gun.” When they arrived, the victim was gone, but they were able to get information the suspects’ vehicles and the direction in which they fled. That led officers to make traffic stops on vehicles matching the descriptions of those that had fled the crime scene. However, because the male victim was not available to identify the people police detained, the occupants were released.
What are the schools doing to keep the children and faculty safe when whackos like this are free to wander in? Are they more interested in Elvin’s pronouns than why he is there?
School officials said Elvin first walked onto the high school campus Nov. 14 at about 10:25 a.m. and entered the middle school about 20 minutes later. He walked around upstairs while class was in session and reportedly told school staff he was there to inquire about his daughter, “Lucifer,”
While the remaining businesses in the structure vacated it in late 2022, about a year ago, a repurpose of the rundown building has long been sought. “Beginning at council’s Nov. 1 meeting, the public may comment during the meeting in person or prior to the meeting via email,” Peake told The Pine Cone Thursday. “No public comments will be received by Zoom.”
The move will please some residents and council members because it will likely stop racist and sexually explicit content that has plagued several local city councils, not only Pacific Grove’s.

Referring to a comments about putting affordable housing on city-owned property, one man calling himself Guy Gator said low-income housing is a “very poor decision to make.” “When we put these public housings in our communities, you’re pretty much like lowering the property value of everybody else’s homes,” the man said. “Because low-income housing brings low-income trash like illegal beaners from Mexico and ni**ers and people we just don’t want here in Pacific Grove.
