Squids Got Internet!

Squid

Squid has been stuck to the edge of Squid’s seat– mainly to stave off “office butt”– while following three pigeon poop threads on the P.G. message board www.morriefisher.com.

But nastiness crept into the thread when Palmer posted a Photoshopped picture of P.G. Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar (who is of Lebanese ancestry) in an Iraqi official’s uniform, to which Guest1 replied, “Nice photo of Mohamad!” Colburn responded with more Photoshop art, this one depicting Ammar’s head on a Lebanese Army soldier’s body.

Squid thinks that load stinks worse than pigeon poop.

No, the Chamber Of Commerce’s propaganda and fear mongering stink more than pigeon poop. The Iraqi satire was of “Baghdad Bob” (who in real life is known as Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, the guy that stands in front of cameras proclaiming victory over the US) since Moe stands up and makes stupid statements praising the Chamber. The other is of Muammar al-Gaddafi, the terrorist dictator. The names are similar. And Moe is a bit of a socialist dictator, IMO

P.G. To Report It’s Greenhouse Gases

Twenty-one cities were announced yesterday, with at least nine others expected to take part in the pilot project. Each city will assemble comparable carbon emission data within their jurisdiction’s operations–for instance, fire department, ambulance and police services, municipal buildings, waste transport and other services the cities provide or activities over which they exercise budgetary control.

Like the businesses who have joined the CDP program, the cities involved will be able to learn from peers about dealing with the risks and opportunities climate change presents.

The other cities participating include: Albany, NY; Albuquerque, NM; Anchorage, AK; Arlington, VA; Burlington, VT; Dubuque, IA; Edina, MN; Fairfield, IA; Haverford, PA; Las Vegas, NV; New Orleans, LA; North Little Rock, AR; Pacific Grove, CA; Park City, UT; Rohnert Park, CA; Saint Paul, MN; Washougal, WA; and West Palm Beach, FL.

How much greenhouse gas is emitted by Sustainable P.G.’s The Brown Green Spot barbecue pits and tiki torches? Them’s hydrocarbons brah!

James Barany

Police arrested a San Jose high school teacher Tuesday afternoon on suspicion he tried to arrange a meeting with a teenage girl he’d met on the Internet. The 13-year-old girl was actually a Santa Cruz police detective.

Police said James Barany, 37, initiated a chat room conversation with the girl and during the course of the conversation, he agreed to meet the girl at a location in Santa Cruz. Police did not disclose where the meeting occurred or how long Barany had allegedly been conversing with the girl. Police also would not disclose what high school he worked at, but a secretary at Overfelt High School in San Jose confirmed Barany is the school’s band director. The principal there referred all calls to East Side Union High School District Superintendent Bob Nuñez, who did not return phone calls seeking comment.

Art Center Lettering
Couple of local reports on the theft of the lettering on the ugly sign in front of the “Pacific Grove Performing Arts Center” also known as the middle school auditorium. Art Center Last Letter
When you build it on a school grounds, make it kid proof. Little alpha bits held on so poorly that they were popped off with little or no damage to the stucco make it appear that no forethought was given to the surroundings.

Pave Our Waterfront – Ocean View Plaza Approved

The cannery that once stood there was a favorite place to play. Loaded with danger and excitement. And many easy access points.

The Ocean View Plaza on Cannery Row could not receive approval without securing a water supply. But the project now has its water after the California Coastal Commission voted 10-2 on Thursday to approve the project’s proposed desalination plant.

The plan calls for a replica of the San Xavier fish-reduction plant warehouse, a community park, renovation of the Stohans building, a history-oriented plaza and a bridge across the 400-500 block of Cannery Row.

Glenn Blevins Pleads No Contest

Blevins once was from P.G.

According to the district attorney’s office, Blevins picked up the victim, a 31-year-old man looking for work as a day laborer, on Aug. 10, 2007 in Seaside. He then drove the victim to an abandoned building in Fort Ord.

Once inside the building, Blevins struck the victim several times, causing him to lose consciousness.
