Where DID All The Pine Cones Go?

Issue that broke the news about Tom Pollacci is flying off the racks. In bundles of 100.Squirrel Pine Cone

Someone driving a blue pickup truck was spotted at numerous locations around Carmel taking large stacks of Pine Cones. Under California law, it is a misdemeanor to take multiple copies of a free newspaper for the purpose of stopping someone from reading it.

One employee, who didn’t want to be identified, said she confronted a man who appeared to be in his 30s, who took a bundle at a Carmel Rancho business.

“I said, ‘You can’t take all of those,’” the clerk said, “and he really didn’t turn around. I said, ‘Excuse me, you can’t take all those; you can only have one.’ I said, ‘Why do you want all of them?’ And he said, ‘Just to have them.’”

Was all over the Peninsula, not just P.G.

Red House Sidewalk

Pay Rent for the sidewalks?

“We’ll have about a 1.3 million dollar shortfall”, said Pacific Grove Budget Manager Jim Beckenberg.

That makes up approximately ten percent of the City’s annual budget and now everything is on the table, meaning City Hall could decrease the hours that it stays open, furloughs will also be considered as well as layoffs.

“We have to look at recreating services, library services, anything where we’re charging a fee for a service to make sure that we collect as much as we can so that general tax dollars can be saved for basic services like police and fire” said Beckenberg.

Small offering: $25 a month per square yard of sidewalk used by restaurants and sidewalk spam signs.

Bigger offerings: The Asilomar Flamingo hotel/casino.

Chamber Of Commerce Gives “Best Motel” Award

Tripadvisor reviews for Pacific Gardens Inn  say “dog friendly – pack your earplugs”.

“I wanted to hit the boards running,” he explained. “So I decided and it was agreed that I could first spend time at the lodge as an employee, learning the business on-site from the ground up. I did this undercover. None of the 13 staffers there knew that I was the future owner. For eight months I did just about everything, manned the front desk, served breakfast, swept floors and cleaned up, whatever.”

When Boerner took possession of the inn, the facility was ranked No. 13 in customer service by Tripadvisor.com, a hospitality Web site. Today, Pacific Gardens Inn has achieved a No. 1 ranking.

P.G. Mothers Calling For Boycott Of Ron’s Liquor

Like boycotting the “We Don’t Serve Your Kind Here” ice cream shoppee, it’s an attention getter in P.G.
Rons Liquor Trash 080720

The anonymous group called Peninsula Mothers United to Protect our Children sent out emails to the news media on their cause. They say, “We demand that the Pollacci family sell the business. And we also demand that Tom Pollacci stay out of Pacific Grove.”

Pollacci calls the Pebble Beach area home.

The email from the concerned mothers continues on, claiming, “He hangs out on the sidewalk harassing girls who walk by.”

Moe Ammar Dont Buy American

Chamber Of Commerce is actually discouraging people to take advantage of all the empty stores? Yet something as out there as a picture frame shop is thriving..

Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar said the business climate is particularly challenging, and he discouraged more than a few would-be entrepreneurs from launching a business because of timing.

Still, there are small-business owners such as Gobel who are finding ways to flourish. Some are launching first-time ventures. Others with established businesses are finding opportunities in expansion and acquisition.

Think about it ladies – a registered sex offender could be looking at YOUR name & address when you buy alcohol or tobacco at Ron’s Liquors.

Pollacci Parking For Rape Victims

Police tracked down Pollacci after he reportedly left the woman at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with a head injury. In the following months, they gathered evidence — including having forensics specialists sweep the Lighthouse Avenue liquor store where he works — and interviewed the victim, who is not from the area.

Neither officers, nor the district attorney’s office, would reveal any further details of the case. Pollacci, who police said is a registered sex offender, is set to appear in a Salinas courtroom at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, for his arraignment

Bad Teachers Cry Over Pink Slips

The state Department of Education estimates that by Friday, 26,000 school workers will have received preliminary pink slips, more than twice as many job warnings as were issued last year.

Because of California’s less-than-rosy economic outlook, K-12 schools are trying to absorb more than $8 billion in state funding cuts.

Many, if not most, of the jobs could be saved by June if voters approve a spending package in a special election in May. Federal stimulus money could also help.

Federal Stimulus Money – fancy buzzword for MORE OF MY TAX DOLLARS after more of my tax dollars.

I’d willingly support better wages for California teachers – if they would do their job.

Oh Those Wharf Chowderheads Part II

Attorney Richard Rosen. ha ha.

Fisherman’s Wharf restaurateur Sam Mercurio appeared to be in deep water Thursday in the case of his competitor’s missing seating pagers.

Testimony will continue this afternoon, but Judge Tom Wills seemed to indicate Thursday he thought Mercurio’s defense attorney was all washed up in his contention that a diver’s recovery of the pagers from the water beneath Mercurio’s restaurant constituted an illegal warrantless search.<

Shake and Mercurio faced off in a Salinas courtroom Thursday afternoon as prosecutor Mary Tatum fought defense attorney Richard Rosen’s motion to suppress the pagers as evidence because they were illegally seized without a warrant from Mercurio’s leased property.
