P.G. Volunteer Fire Department Ignites

But does not seem to get close to the flame..

The association will have up to 35 members older than the age of 18, maintain its own insurance and receive no paid compensation for training and services the members provide.

Those services, Frutchey said, may include preserving records, equipment and artifacts of the Pacific Grove Fire department, maintaining and operating antique fire engines in parades and other community events, providing disaster response services, participating in fund raising, and working with other service organizations on activities that benefit the community.

Weekend Home Rentals Approved

Senior city planner Sarah Hardgrave noted that short-term rentals are already occurring in the city despite a prohibition enacted by the council in 1997 against rentals of single-family residences for fewer than 30 days.

She said licensing and taxing them could bring the city an additional $200,000 a year in revenue. Those who fail to register rentals, respond to neighbors’ complaints or violate provisions of the ordinance would be subject to penalties.

Since code enforcement is little to none, is there a contact to rat on suspected party houses?

Daniel Maniscalco went to the Pacific Grove City Council meeting Wednesday night and presented his plans for a non-profit cooperative during public comments.

The issue was not on the agenda so city council members did not address it but Mayor Carmelita Garcia said it does violate the city’s zoning codes.

Just what they need to bring more crime. Wonder what someone that woke up after a 30 year sleep would think if they just woke up and wanted to visit the Beer Springs for a sip.

The MyCaregiver Co-op Inc. at 554 Lighthouse Ave. began serving a clientele of 45 medical marijuana users in November and membership has since gone to 70, said John Rico, a MyCaregiver director.

He contends MyCaregiver doesn’t need a permit from the city to operate because it is a private club, benefiting only its members, and exempt from the city permit and licensing process.

City Attorney Deborah Mall said a retail sales business license for that address was applied for and granted, “but they didn’t say it was a medical marijuana facility.”

A marijuana facility, she said, “is not a permitted use in any zone of the city.”

The Pacific Grove City Council will consider Tuesday a new marketing plan for the city’s golf course in an effort to generate more revenue.

New marketing would include a revamped website, ad campaigns in other cities, and partnerships with local hotels. For regular players, the golf course doesn’t need much help.

Pebble Beach Art Theft Suspect Pens 30 Page Manifesto

Screwball

This story gets more weird every time it resurfaces. The cops are likely to close in soon with the help of the “victims”.

In the latest from the alleged Pebble Beach art Heist Saga, due to “an unauthorized, unsupervised memo about Prosecutorial Misconduct”, Vicki St. John has dropped both Angelo Amadio and Dr. Ralph Kennaugh as clients.

As a result of his actions, St. John says that Amadio is no longer her certified law student due to his violation of the California Bar rules governing the practical training of law students. St. John also says that she notified the California State Bar about the unauthorized memo.

Entire text of the memo available here.

Let’s Spend $$ On A New Slogan To Attract More Tourists?

While library hours dwindle.

I wonder what the approval % would be like if there was a vote to spend revenues on attracting tourists.

Pacific Grove has an identity crisis, city leaders say. Butterfly Town USA, America’s Last Hometown and other catch phrases have left P.G. with an amorphous identity that fails even to hint at the city’s greatest attraction: its stunning coastline.

The city also has a calendar of quirky civic celebrations such as the Feast of Lanterns and the Good Old Days that make it a hard place to pin down. And that’s made it difficult to market Pacific Grove to tourists, the city contends. A recent study even suggested visitors are not aware of Pacific Grove and the attractions it offers.

Anyway – the best slogan is the truth – “Pacific Grove, For The Newly Wed & The Nearly Dead”
