Lovers Point Beach in Pacific Grove has been posted with an advisory due to high indicator bacteria found in samples taken on Monday, according to the Monterey County Health Department.
Salinas Loses .5 Million Dollars From “Green Vehicles” Involvement
City governments need to stay out of private sector businesses.
A Salinas car manufacturing company that was expected to build environmentally friendly electric cars and create new jobs folded before almost any vehicles could run off the assembly line.
The city of Salinas had invested more than half a million dollars in Green Vehicles, an electric car start-up company.
All of that money is now gone, according to Green Vehicles President and Co-Founder Mike Ryan.
Thing is butt ugly, too.

From the San Jose Mercury in 2010. Reads like a sham pitch full of eco-babble. No mention of true environmental progresses such as recyclable building materials or support for the vendors in China (!!) to improve their pollution output.
The first Triac prototypes were made in China, but the company moved manufacturing operations to California to lower its carbon footprint as soon as it got funding from the energy commission. Building the Triac in the state with the greatest market for electric vehicles will minimize the cost of transporting materials and vehicles, Ryan said.
Green Vehicles is also working on an online site that tracks the company’s greenhouse gas emissions and waste. “I want people to see these kinds of metrics,” Ryan said.

Slowpokes Remembered
They didn’t have girlfriends way back when — or so they claim — because every nickel and dime they earned was already promised in advanced to the true loves of their lives.
The good times returned Saturday for the aging gearheads who were among the earliest members of Monterey’s original Slowpokes Car Club, founded in 1949 by a couple of teenagers named Mike Homan and Al Bergquist.
A handful of the hot-rodding pioneers reunited at the Monterey Fairgrounds, sharing war stories with friends whom they hadn’t seen, in most cases, for 30 to 45 years, at a vintage car event organized by a Gold Coast Rods, a modern-day descendant of the Slowpokes.
The first line caught my eye “they didn’t have girlfriends or so they claimed”. One Slowpoke I knew very well had a beautiful girlfriend. Not only was she gorgeous she worked at Foster Freeze on Lighthouse ave. I would gladly help clean uncle’s ’59 Impala for a ride to see her.

Welcome, New Owners Of Country Club Gate
Carmel Pine Cone Police Log
Pacific Grove: PGPD officers were dispatched to three juveniles possibly intoxicated in the area of Country Club Gate. Person advised they were stumbling and their eyes looked glassy. Officer made contact with all three, and two of the males ran. Two of the three males were cited and released.
Property Owner Trying To Evict Pot Shop
Richard Rosen, lol
After a three-day hearing, Judge Lydia Villarreal asked for written final arguments from attorneys for the MyCaregiver Cooperative and directors Jhonrico Carrnshimba and Mark Rowland.
The three are accused of contempt of court for allegedly violating an October 2010 court injunction by continuing to operate as a medical marijuana outlet on Lighthouse Avenue.
The medical marijuana co-op has appealed the earlier ruling to the state Court of Appeals. To obtain the injunction, the city said the outlet violated the city’s 2010 moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries.
The owner of the New Monterey building also has gone to court to evict the co-op, but that case has been held in abeyance pending the outcome of the contempt-of-court case.
Richard Rosen, attorney for the co-op corporation, filed defense papers arguing that the injunction on which the contempt charges are based is, itself, a flawed city law.
Pollacci Going To Prison – Finally
He’s been in County Jail ever since the first trail.
He has been held in Monterey County Jail since the first guilty verdict but will now be moved to a state prison. While in the county facility, “he has received no disciplinary action reports or writeups” for bad behavior, according to Wouden.
Meanwhile, his parents have settled a federal civil lawsuit brought by one of Pollacci’s victims, which claimed they were negligent for letting their son, who was first convicted of sex crimes in the early 1990s, work in their liquor stores. A lawsuit by Jane Doe 1 was filed in federal court against the Pollacci’s. Late last year, a judge ruled they could be held personally liable for negligence. The family also sold its Pacific Grove and Carmel liquor stores, which are now owned by Lopez family, who also owns Lopez Taqueria & Liquor on Del Monte Avenue and Lopez Restaurante y Cantina on Cass Street.
Save $11,000 A Year Sending License Renewal Work To Fresno
And charge businesses to do so.
Moe always mentions Fresno as where many P.G. tourists come from..
The decision to work with Muniservices came in response to budget pressures and concerns that not all businesses in the city were paying the tax, Becklenberg said. The amount of the tax owed is linked to the annual gross receipts of the business.
Before contracting with Muniservices, Becklenberg said, the city had only a half-time worker to process about 1,600 business licenses at a cost of $38,000 per year. The new system is expected to reduce that cost to $29,000 a year, he said.
Judge Decides Against Police Officers’ Union
Pacific Grove police suffered a setback last week when a judge dismissed breach-of-contract claims in a lawsuit they filed last year against the city over a voter-approved initiative that lowers the amount the city contributes to workers’ pensions.
The initiative was drawn up by a group of citizens led by former city councilman Dan Davis as a way of reducing the city’s retirement costs. The $900,000 Pacific Grove pays to CalPERS every year is one of the city’s biggest expenses.
Tom Pollacci Gets Another Six Years In Prison
Faced with nine women waiting to testify he had raped them over three decades and one survey that showed 95 percent of the public believed he was probably guilty, Pollacci didn’t like his odds.
As a condition of his plea agreement, he was required to dismiss his appeal in that case and to waive all rights of appeal in the current case as long as he receives the stipulated sentence. He must serve at least 85 percent of the total 14-year sentence, nearly 12 years, before he is eligible for parole. He has served 13 months.
