Police said that around 10:45 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of 17-Mile Drive in regards to a person who had refused to pay for a taxi cab fare.

When officers arrived and knocked on the front door, police said, no one answered. Officials said, however, that police saw movement and heard sounds coming from inside the residence.

When officers went to the side window, police said, they saw what appeared to be blood splattered on the wall.

Officer forced entry into the home and found 46-year-old Judith Salazar of Pacific Grove dead on the floor. Sunny Nguyen, the 26-year-old who is reportedly the father of Salazar’s grandchildren, was also found on the floor suffering from knife wounds.

At about 3:50 p.m. an officer noticed a 1990’s white Chevy Blazer moving inconsistently eastbound on Lighthouse Avenue.

After several blocks, the Blazer abruptly stopped in the middle of the road.

Three men exited the sports utility vehicle and fled.

At 4:47 p.m., police found one suspect, Manuel Rodriguez Hernandez, 18, of Seaside, hiding between two parked cars near Laurel Avenue and 1st Street.

At 6:27 p.m., Monterey Police found the suspected driver of the Blazer, Francis Geovanni Ruiz Perez, 18, also of Seaside, walking on the Recreation Trail near the 200 block of Hannon Street.

The third suspect, Julio Cesar Rodriguez, 19, of Seaside, was found at 7:15 p.m. on the 900 block of Hilby in Seaside..

37 Hand Grenades Found In Pebble Beach

A probation search on Thursday at the home of Joe Beverdine, 48 on the 2900 block of Sloat Road in Pebble Beach found 37 inert military practice hand grenades, deputies said.

On Tuesday, Monterey Police officers conducted a vehicle check, occupied by Joe Beverdine, in the parking lot of the Travel Lodge Motel, deputies said.

They found an altered practice hand grenade within the vehicle, causing the evacuation of the motel while the Bomb Squad responded and rendered the device safe, deputies said.

Beverdine is currently in-custody pending trial on $62,500 bail, deputies said.

Lisa Bennett is set to join the nonprofit Hospice Foundation of Monterey as its director of fund development.

The Princeton graduate has 22 years experience in fundraising and is a credentialed Certified Fundraising Executive. Bennett moved to Pacific Grove in 1990, then became the director of development and public relations at York School.

She also has her own consulting practice and served as an adjunct faculty member with the Fundraising School at Indiana University for 20 years.

Deputies said Stephan Kidder, 36, of Chateau Sinnet Winery, was found trespassing and interfering with a business about 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of East Carmel Valley Road. When asked to leave, deputies said, Kidder threatened employees with the marker.

Deputies said that when they arrived, he ran into the Carmel River. Deputies were able to talk Kidder out of the river, and he was booked into the Monterey County Jail on suspicion of exhibiting a deadly weapon, public intoxication and trespassing. Jail officials said Kidder also had a warrant for driving with a suspended license, without vehicle insurance and registration.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said a 47-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attacking a woman with a vase at the Pebble Beach Lodge.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the call at 6 p.m. following a report that Lawrence Paul Elliott of Beverley Hills had thrown a vase at a woman.

The Monterey County District Attorney is set to hold a press conference Monday to discuss some details in the case against Jesse John Crow, who was found dead early Saturday morning – hanging in his jail cell from a makeshift rope.

Crow also faced charges of using a firearm to commit a crime, being a felon in possession of a firearm, cultivating marijuana, attempted solicitation to commit a crime, and possession and transportation or sale of marijuana.

The MST Trolley – Pacific Grove will operate daily Thursday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 22, departing every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and stopping at destinations including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Lovers Point and numerous stops throughout the downtown area for shopping and dining.

The scenic route will include a tour of the bay along Ocean View Boulevard from Hopkins Marine Station to Point Pinos. On-board narration provided by the Monterey Bay Aquarium will provide passengers with information on the city’s history and points of interest.
