Miles Clifford Farmer, 32, of Prunedale and Amanda Miyo Farmer, 29, of Pacific Grove were sitting in two cars behind the Motel 6 at 100 Reservation Road in Marina around 9 a.m. when officers ran one of the license plates and discovered that Miles Farmer was a parolee-at-large. Lt. Bob Nolan said officers also learned that Farmer had a previous conviction for operating a meth lab.
When the vehicles were searched, officers discovered a black satchel in one containing items that looked like a portable methamphetamine lab.

Caregiver Runs Up Unauthorized Credit Card Charges
Talielia Mekemke Naufahu, 45, of San Mateo was booked in lieu of $30,000 on suspicion of grand theft and theft from elders, police said.
Naufahu was hired as a caregiver for the couple in the past year. Police began investigating Naufahu after a member of the couple’s family found “unusual charges” on some of their credit cards.
Not All Tourists Are In Blissful Love
What started as a weekend getaway at a Pacific Grove bed and breakfast turned bad for a Dublin couple Sunday.
The couple were staying at a bed and breakfast on the 200 block of Ocean View when Darren Errol Lawson, 28 allegedly assaulted his girlfriend about midnight Sunday. Police said Lawson left the room after the first attack and his girlfriend, a 31-year-old also from Dublin, locked the door and tried to call police.
Maybe the scones were stale that day . .
Trespassers Arrested At Lillian King Home
Two Pacific Grove women were arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of trespassing at a property owned by an aunt of one of the women.
Rindi Rehs, 33, was cited and released, and the owner’s niece, Cynthia Hurley, 47, was also found to be in possession of drugs, police said. Hurley was charged and released on bail.
“Right in the middle of all this wealth and affluence is West Virginia,” Chief Carl Miller said. “We were getting calls.”
Bad analogy, chief.
Good Old Days Aint What They Used To Be
Complaints have flowed in to Ammar’s office from residents who said the ad was tasteless and inappropriate for something promoting what is billed as a family event in, of all places, America’s Last Hometown.
The chamber’s mailer, which was sent to 12,000 Peninsula residents, features an advertisement depicting a couple lying in bed together, and a caption reads, “Ladies, are you feeling shy about taking it off for your husbands? Feel comfortable again about getting naked!”
“There was nothing about it that jumped out at me at first,” said Ammar. “Then the phone calls came in and I read it more closely. You would hope the ads would be more traditional.”
For the record, another ad inside the mailer depicts the backside of a naked woman sitting on a skateboard, with the upper half of her “backside” exposed.
That’s one sad looking fat lady. You don’t see starving orphans in food ads or smelly drunks in beer ads, why do they use a sad fat person in a diet ad?
Faster Times On P.G. Streets
The Pacific Grove City Council voted 7-0 Wednesday night to increase speed limits from 25 to 30 mph along nine stretches of city streets.
According to state law, speed limits are set slightly below the 85th percentile of a recent three-month survey conducted on city streets. The speed limit increase is the only legal way the police department can enforce radar.

- David from Devisadero to Congress (my favorite – look out LOLs exiting CC Gate)

P.G. Proposes To Run Golf Clubhouse
Before Wednesday’s meeting, City Manager Jim Colangelo said Pacific Grove was in a win-win situation because it couldn’t lose money.
“The concessionaire is not interested in extending the lease, and we are looking at this as an opportunity for the city to pick up additional revenue,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for the city to be able to look at how we can improve our service to the public and to the citizens of Pacific Grove,” said Leach.
Under the new management structure, the position of superintendent will also include the title director of golf. The city will hire eight maintenance workers and four part-time workers.
The proposal left Schenk skeptical.
If you already have the overhead in place to hire/train/pay an employee base, why not?
Carmel Man Suspected In Rash Of P.G. Burglaries
Police are searching for a Carmel man they suspect stole credit cards, cash and other personal belongings from unlocked cars in Pacific Grove and Monterey last week, and allegedly forged checks to pay for a 1994 BMW.
Jon Cory Lanite, 19, is also suspected of stealing a 1988 Toyota pickup, police said.
Investigators said they identified Lanite in connection with the March 29-30 thefts after arresting 19-year-old Kyle Shiejak of Pacific Grove on March 31. Officers said the two were partners in the crimes.
Lanite was last seen Friday driving a white BMW with license plate number 3KHC887, police said.
Tidepool Police Cry When Told To Move
On March 11, a peaceful marine conservation rally sponsored by the Tidepool Coalition was held on the 17-foot-wide sidewalks in front of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Our purpose was to gather signatures protesting proposals before the Fish and Game Commission to commandeer our city-owned Pacific Grove Marine Garden Refuge.
We met no less than three times with the department to obtain necessary permits. We had a permit, and permission for keyboard music. Amplification was less than 60 decibels.
At 1:15 p.m. police appeared, responding to an aquarium complaint. The sergeant in charge had a single purpose — to intimidate and trash the event. He purposefully made conditions so restrictive, it was impossible to gather signatures or continue the assembly.
Mountain Lion Seen At Golf Course
The cat was spotted twice on Friday and police shut down part of the course while officers searched the area.
“We were on the 12th hole and a Fish and Game officer with a high-powered rifle told us we had to vacate the course immediately, there was a mountain lion sighting,” golfer George Roe said.
The same cat was spotted on the course again on Saturday.
The animal is believed to be the same one first spotted in the Pacific Grove area about a year ago. It apparently has found an abundant food source in the deer in the area that are more used to people than predators.
