One Way Lighthouse Ave Is Not My Way

Lighthouse Ave Traffic

Ever get the feeling that these traffic experts ride the bus all the time? Kind of like having priests counsel on marriage. Dedicating traffic lanes to buses will not reduce anything when no one rides them. Take out some sidewalks that are always empty to make more room on the narrow avenue or make the buses use Foam or Hawthorne. Or make Holman Highway 4 lanes all the way.

Making Lighthouse Avenue one-way through New Monterey remains the preferred model for easing vehicle traffic on the crowded city street, improving safety and making it more bus and pedestrian friendly, according to city planners.

Monterey traffic engineer Rich Deal, senior planner Kimberly Cole and principal planner Elizabeth Caraker met residents and business owners Wednesday to hear their comments on the proposed Lighthouse Area Specific Plan. Another workshop is at 5p.m. Nov. 30 at the city’s Hilltop Park Center.

The one-way model, Deal said, would allow improved traffic flow toward Monterey and could include a dedicated bus lane that would speed up bus service by reducing the time needed for curbside stops.

No fun allowed. Someone has to have that on video..

Driving toward Pacific Grove on Holman Highway at the top of the road where the S curves begin, I almost ran into a black SUV with hazard lights flashing. It became apparent that this vehicle was driven by the mother of two school-age children riding their skateboards down the highway. She was following them to ensure vehicles wouldn’t run into them.

World Government Of Our Locality?

AMBAG is drinking the Agenda 21 kool aide. Don’t buy into this harmless sounding feelgood stuff. Sustainable Development means population reduction, travel restrictions, loss of rights and other fascist progress.

I recommend this local group to get the other side of the story: www.FreedomAdvocates.org

It is close to the anniversary of that well known socialist experiment called Jonestown, isn’t it?

The report suggests that coordinating regional land-use and transportation policies can reduce congestion by cutting back on personal vehicle use, conserve valuable open space and farmland by clustering development, and provide a variety of housing and transportation options.

Employing “sustainable growth patterns” would focus new, compact development in already populated areas, with jobs within walking distance of mixed-use public transit and neighborhood centers, according to the report.

No Pot Club

The council initially approved the moratorium at its Jan. 19 meeting for a 45-day period in response to the opening of a medical marijuana club, MyCaregiver Inc., at 554 Lighthouse Ave.

Other factors included uncertainty about federal and state laws, lack of specific mention of such facilities in Monterey’s municipal code, and increases in crime in cities where the dispensaries are permitted, particularly burglaries, robberies and illegal sales related to marijuana transactions.

If you think there are cops around, don’t go looking for the drop off. LOL.

Two men were arrested Monday after apparently trying to retrieve a hidden marijuana stash from the Pacific Grove High School campus, police reported.

School staff found a Mason jar full of marijuana in a wooded area near the soccer field. When officers arrived to investigate, they saw Sean Paul Kilpatrick, 27, and Cory Wayne Peters, 24, both of Pacific Grove, appearing to intently search the same area.

Pollacci’s Other Pad – Trailer In A Storage Lot

Wouldn’t take of his hat during sex for it would muss his rug.

Sepegan said the two drove around in a pouring rain storm for three hours that night before Pollacci drove her to a vehicle storage lot behind Monterey Peninsula Airport, where he entered a code and parked outside an aluminum travel trailer.

Inside, the two sat at the dining table and kissed. She did not stop Pollacci when he removed her top and bra, she said, or when he led her into the bedroom, removed all his clothing — except his hat because he was wearing a toupe –

Another Library Tax Fails

Hasn’t it been proven enough or do the supporters assume that the masses are not smart enough to know better?

Liberry

In a repeat of the November 2009 municipal election, supporters of Measure Q again failed to garner the two-thirds supermajority needed to pass a special tax to fund the Pacific Grove Public Library.

The final unofficial vote tally from Tuesday’s election showed 2,827 votes in favor of a parcel tax for the library to 1,796 against. With just more than 61 percent approval, the measure fell short of the 66.6 percent needed to pass.
