Come and take it, I dare ya!

I think this artwork will still be legal to own. Might need to register it.

Earlier this year, the California Air Resources Board released a draft planning document that considers various policy measures to create the nation’s first zero-emissions standards for appliances, similar to the state’s zero-emissions standards for new cars.

For now, the agency is focusing only on gas furnaces and hot water heaters. But expansion to natural gas-guzzling stoves and clothes dryers would eliminate 30 tons of smog-forming nitrogen oxide emissions every single day, it notes.

Ten Million Dollars For A Whole Block

Watch these once typical P,G, homes all experience a P.G Remodel festival where the triple in size and increase 800% in price.

A single parcel of land taking up one block with 15 cottage-style dwellings on it was recently sold in Pacific Grove for $10 million. According to real estate agent Debby Beck who represented the buyer, the property sits on one parcel and could only be sold as one parcel since the lots had not been split in almost 100 years.

Pebble Beach Pervert Packs Plenty Of Pistolas 2

Weird. Got a guy that is a former gun dealer that should not have guns. No one checks this stuff?

After searching a Pebble Beach home last week as part of a sexual assault investigation, Monterey County Sheriff’s detectives ultimately found and seized thousands of rounds of ammunition and dozens of guns.

On Thursday, deputies served a search warrant issued for the Shepard’s Knoll residence of 56-year-old Michael Abbott. The search yielded over 80 firearms, more than 50,000 rounds of ammunition, and hundreds of magazines for various firearms, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Abbott is a previous gun shop owner, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrel Simpson added.

Letters From The Editor – Canceling Feast Of Lanterns

History being rewritten. Jenny McAdams seems to hate the feast.

Lantern festival honors Chinese
Lantern Festival celebrations began around 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (202 BCE-220 CE). The holiday’s exact origins are somewhat unclear. Several different origin stories are used to explain where the festival came from. One of the most common stories is that Emperor Ming was a supporter of Buddhism and after he learned that it was customary for Buddhist monks to light lanterns on the 15th day of the first lunar month, he decreed that imperial palaces and individual households should do the same. This concept lives on as today’s Lantern Festivals.

The woke people who want to stop the Feast of Lanterns in Pacific Grove may be trying to end a longtime Chinese custom. What gives them the right to dictate what should be canceled as part of their cancel culture. I have always believed that the Feast of Lanterns honored the Chinese people and their decedents who settled in Pacific Grove. Why do so many traditions and customs have to be removed from our lives?

Cancel Feast of Lanterns?
First, the PG city council unanimously endorsed transforming the Monarch Inn into an ocean view homeless shelter, without the knowledge of the owners. Now, PG Councilwoman Jenny McAdams, along with 300 whining woke malcontents who signed a petition, want to permanently cancel the Feast of Lanterns due to alleged “cultural appropriation” of Chinese culture.

In the era of wokeness, it’s suddenly racist to enjoy and explore other cultures? Does McAdams and her followers want to further deprive PG of needed tax revenue and the income for the vendors at such events?

These whiners should stop ordering Chinese, Italian, Thai and Mexican food for fear of being called misappropriating bigots.

Maybe they should pool their money and buy the Monarch Inn so they can have a safe space to pout.

Fish Prison Calls Off Family Visits

Do the fish get lonely with no crowds looking at them through the glass cells?

Aquarium Kalisas

“Unfortunately, we had to make the tough call to cancel it this year,” said Monterey Bay Aquarium Chief Operating Officer Cynthia Vernon in an email. “Ongoing effects of the extended closure such as staffing considerations, significant revenue loss, and the timed reservation system are among the challenges that led us to the decision.”

The Community Open House is the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s annual event for residents in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties to come and enjoy the aquarium free of charge throughout a week in December. The Community Open House is made possible in part by the support of its business partners and contributions.

According to the aquarium’s financial information, it lost about $43 million in revenue and support in the year ending Dec. 31, 2020. Admissions alone decreased 85% during that time, though its contributions and grants increased about 19%.

Library Reopening Dedication

12 years ago they couldn’t afford to keep it open more than 4 days a week. Now they had 3 million $$ to remodel.

Liberry

As it adds more hours and access during the ongoing pandemic and beyond, patrons will find the usual library items such as books, DVDs, and historic documents, but the updated space also provides USB plugs for laptops and access to a new audio-visual system and screen for things such as lecture events and movie nights.

The community was invited to name the “heart of the library,” the showpiece of the library’s renovation where newly-refinished floors, archways, and replicas of the original chandeliers, separate the rotunda from the main section of the library.

Godwin said the list of possible names has been narrowed down to the top five: “Carnegie Commons,” “Lantern Hall,” “Grove Hall,” “Pacific Hall,” and “Old Parlor.” The winning name will be revealed at the rededication ceremony where the community is invited to come together, take part in the celebration, and tour the renovated library.

I tried, but Booky McBook Room failed to make the cut, as did Temperance Hall.

Moe’s Fantasy Open Again

Tourist Misinformation

Moe thinks his Tourist Misinformation Center is the ONLY local source of information needed. Fleece the tourists. Ask where can you get a Crockerburger.

The Pacific Grove Tourist Information Center is throwing its doors open to guests once again after being closed for about 15 months due to the pandemic.

“Since closing, we learned that it is critical to businesses in the 2-mile radius” of the tourist information center, said Moe Ammar, Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce president. “It is the only local source of tourist information needed by the visitors to the area.”

So They Only Bought The House To Make $$

And not to live in. So nothing left but to sell it.

1135 Ocean View

A wrench has been thrown into the spokes of a lawsuit challenging Pacific Grove’s system of determining what properties can provide short-term rentals when on Wednesday the home at the center of the case was sold.

The current case involves Susan and William Hobbs, a Pacific Grove couple who filed a lawsuit against the city in the summer of 2019 in Monterey County Superior Court, alleging that Pacific Grove denied their due process rights by refusing to renew a short-term rental license the Hobbs possessed.

Taxes From Vacation Rentals Yes! Code Enforcement No So Much

Grand Jury roasts the county.

The report criticizes what it calls the county’s decision to “consciously take a passive approach” to enforcement. It argues that approach has resulted in “significant growth” in the numbers of unpermitted vacation rentals while the county takes its time developing rules for the practice, and “increasing public tensions over this uncontrolled growth” as a result. It also suggests lack of enforcement and growth in the numbers will “likely magnify the difficult problems that the county must address when new ordinances are eventually enacted and take effect.”
