A man who went missing while visiting the Monterey Bay peninsula has been found dead.

McGee was reported missing by his spouse after he did not return to their hotel room.

Investigators reported on Friday that Mcgee’s body was found in Santa Clara County. His cause of death was not disclosed by police.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near the end of Fisherman’s Wharf #2. All three people were pulled out of the water with a firetruck ladder.

Two people were sent to a nearby hospital with minor injuries related to being in the cold water, according to Monterey fire officials.

Swimmers Cross Bay With Proper Teatime

English Channel Rules – Must stop for tea.

The 36-year-old swimmer and his brother Joe Zemaitis set off from Santa Cruz around 7 p.m. on Tuesday hoping to become the first men to complete the 25.1 mile swim across the bay using “English Channel” rules. Those rules state that the swimmer must be unassisted and cannot wear a wet suit.

Only John was able to complete the swim. His older brother, Joe, had to be pulled from the water after showing signs of hypothermia about a mile offshore from Monterey.

Seagull Solution: African Cats

The City of Virginia Beach posted a picture of an African serval cat, believed to be Rocky, wearing a tracking collar, standing in the 2300 block of Shore Drive about 80 miles from his home.

Brian Hankins, of Kitty Hawk, says he owns Rocky, and he has posted pictures of the spotted cat lounging with the family dog.

Animal Control officers theorized that having plenty of seagulls to eat along the way may have helped Rocky on his journey.

Akeman and her husband visit the seals almost daily and track their numbers, conducting a Harbor Seal Census annually. This year the pair are predicting 55-60 live births based on how things are going with Koala and her pup and their count on pregnant moms.

2018 was a very good year for the colony and Baynet recorded 70 births. The population has been in recovery mode since 2014 when changing ocean temperatures in the bay depleted food sources. In 2016 just 16 pups were born in the Monterey area.

Stolen cars, drugs, counterfeit money, hit and run, running from police. Still got caught.

On March 27, detectives spotted Balesteri in Monterey driving another Acura sedan that was stolen out of Seaside.

Baleseteri was contacted after parking the car and was arrested without incident.

Police found tools used to commit vehicle thefts, methamphetamine, and counterfeit U.S. currency on Balesteri.

Police searched his home on the 800 block of Belden in Monterey found evidence he was creating counterfeit currency including a computer, printer, specialized paper, and additional counterfeit currency.

They also found property stolen from the Acura involved in the vehicle pursuit and crash on March 17, drug paraphernalia, and methamphetamine.

76 Year Old Man Arrested For Child Pornography

Thomas Hennessy, 76, of Pebble Beach was arrested by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office on March 27 and charged with possession of child pornography.

Prior to Hennessy’s arrest the department had learned that someone at a Pebble Beach home on Sawmill Gulch Road was uploading and viewing child pornography over the internet.

What Restaurant Dumped Crayons In The Bay?

Divers conducted an underwater cleanup off McAbee Beach in Monterey and discovered hundreds of crayons littering the ocean floor. KSBW took a close look at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.’s crayons on today, which are packaged with plastic in pairs. The crayons matched the type that divers were finding on the ocean floor.

Visitors Start A Marriage With Stabbings

Stabbing victims from East Bay take care of their own.

A wedding celebration turned violent in Pacific Grove over the weekend when two men were stabbed by a third person who had also attended the wedding.

The attack happened just after 2 a.m. on Lighthouse Avenue at Olympia Lodge.

The victims were treated at a hospital for major injuries and are expected to survive. They are not cooperating with police, a commander said.

Police said the victims and attacker live in the East Bay, and they were in Pacific Grove for the wedding.
