I know lots of Fresno people flock to town when it’s hot, but growing up is a stretch of truth.
Let’s have some representation that holds true.

Monterey police said a Fresno man was arrested after he tried to evade a DUI after driving off the Municipal Wharf 2 on Sunday morning.
Another officer saw the vehicle on the left turn pocket from Del Monte to Municipal Wharf 2. The officer turned on their lights to initiate a traffic stop near Municipal Wharf 2.The vehicle pulled over and when the officer approached on foot the vehicle drove off. The truck went north toward the end of the wharf at a high speed, said police.
The officer assumed the occupants were hiding at the end of the wharf since there was nowhere to go. Other officers arrived to assist, and when they got to the end of the wharf they heard a cry for help coming from the ocean.
Officers located four people in the water and threw flotation devices at them. Police then realized the suspects had driven off the wharf.
All four were safely rescued. The passengers were treated for minor injuries and were released.
The driver, Martin Urroz, 21, was taken to the Natividad Medical Center for injuries he sustained.

County Superior Court in August 2018, ajury determined that the attorney general’s claims against Matthew G. Gregory, and his son, Matthew J. Gregory, were true, and that they had used misleading and deceptive fundraising practices in running unlawful charity raffles in California. Jurors also found that the elder Gregory’s wife, Danella, and daughter, Gina, had unjustly enriched themselves in the scheme.
The family used a Carmel post office box to raise money through its charities to establish a therapeutic horse riding program for veterans in Carmel Valley. But Attorney General Xavier Becerra, who called the family “con artists” in a 2018 news release, said the charities were fake, and the jury found they failed to use the money to help veterans. Instead, prosecutors said, family members spent the donations on dining, traveling, paying off credit card debt, and shopping, including at Victoria’s Secret.
It’s believed that the Gregorys are from Fresno. The “charity” has a Carmel Post Office Box for an address.
Matthew G. Gregory, his wife, Danella J. Gregory, and their adult children, Matthew J. Gregory and Gina D. Gregory, operate Central Coast Equine Rescue and Retirement (CCERR) and Wounded Warriors Support Group (WWSG), Becerra said.
“CCERR and WWSG run raffles purportedly to support veterans and horses, but instead spend the donated proceeds for personal use,” the AG’s Office wrote in a press release.
Personal uses included spending $10,000 at a hunting store, buying cars, shopping at Victoria’s Secret and Nordstrom, paying off personal credit card debts, traveling, and restaurant bills, according to the lawsuit.

The decision to work with Muniservices came in response to budget pressures and concerns that not all businesses in the city were paying the tax, Becklenberg said. The amount of the tax owed is linked to the annual gross receipts of the business.
Before contracting with Muniservices, Becklenberg said, the city had only a half-time worker to process about 1,600 business licenses at a cost of $38,000 per year. The new system is expected to reduce that cost to $29,000 a year, he said.
