Great White Shark Population Boom

Great White Shark

Could it be the result of all those tasty otters and sea lions that are also protected?

“White sharks can’t be fished or targeted or taken both by state and federal laws so these regulations give them the opportunity to reproduce and increase in population,” said David Ebert, director for the Pacific Shark Research Center at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories.

Demolition revealed an advertisement for Bull Durham tobacco on the north wall of a building occupied by Carbone’s Bar. Outzen said the wall dates to at least the 1920s.

Monterey senior associate planner Christy Hopper said records show the building was completely rebuilt in 1944.

However, the building next to it was built in the 1920s, meaning the tobacco advertisement was probably painted before the adjacent structure was built.

The iconic bull in the advertisement was the idea of founder William T. Sherman, who modeled it after Colman’s Mustard, which had a bull on its label for much of its history, according to documents provided by the American Tobacco Historic District, based in Durham, North Carolina.

Clarke, who owns the Carbone’s building, said he has no plans to paint over the sign — mostly because a large building is planned to go in front of it.

Organ Donor Nearly Donates

Officers responded about 10:40 p.m. to the 1900 block of Sunset Drive, where they found a crowd in front of Beachcomber Inn rendering first aid to the Marina man.

Further investigation revealed the motorcyclist had been traveling east on Sunset from Asilomar State Beach and took a curve at a high speed, causing him to lose control.

The man fell, and, still straddling his motorcycle, slid through the bushes along the shoulder of the road before coming to rest in front of the hotel.

Police are investigating an explosion that left a building on Presidio Boulevard with shattered windows and broken light fixtures early Saturday morning.

Nearby residents told police an explosion activated several car alarms and left a smoky stench that they thought came from fireworks. Police combed the area near Austin Avenue and found that a large, homemade mortar-style device had exploded in EnviroTemp Heating and Cooling’s parking lot, police said.

Favaloros Might Just Take Their Fence And Go

Pick a fight with the Favaloros, eh? That’s what they like. According to the newz, the fence must be bolted permanently to the sidewalk due to liquor rules. So is it a cafe or a bar?Favaloros Fence

City Manager Tom Frutchey told News Channel 5 the city authorized the business to build temporary, movable fencing, but not permanent. Otherwise, he said Cafe Ariana is making public property, private.

On Friday, the city made a visit to the business and said it would help take down the fencing. The city told News Channel 5 it would be willing to weld steel bars to the bottom of the fence so that it’s movable.

Favaloro said she’s ready to close her business of nearly 21 years because the city went back on its word

Please. Leave. Don’t forget to give back the sidewalk you fenced off.

Although there are dog bag dispensers at Carmel Beach, SOS has found that many visitors are bagging their pets’ waste and leaving it on the sand, rather than walking it to a garbage can.

“Plastic bags of dog waste on the beach are a serious issue,” said Rachel Kippen, SOS Program Manager. “Not only are they an eyesore and horribly unpleasant, but they also have a direct impact on some of our most critical species, including the endangered southern sea otters that call Carmel’s kelp forest home.”

Starbucks plans to move into the former KFC and Long John Silver’s building near the city’s border with Pacific Grove.

The Seattle-based company could move into the location by August, according to Christy Hopper, Monterey’s senior associate planner.

Hopper, who has been working with the company for roughly eight months, said the plan calls for the building to be completely converted but keep the drive-through.

It will have outdoor seating and entrances on Hawthorne Street and Lighthouse Avenue.

Jordan Pollacci Arrested For Up-The-Skirt Pictures

Might as well bring this picture back with an update. How are those sex offender programs working out, son of Pollacci?
Pollacci Parking Squirrels Only

PS, the KSBW URL link for it’s story is somewhat amusing calling Jordan a Pebble Beach Pervert –
