No one ever moves up in the local ranks.

Linda Adamson comes from a much larger district than P.G.’s. Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified has 34 schools and an enrollment of about 24,000. Pacific Grove Unified has two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, one continuation high school and an adult education school. Its enrollment, as of August, is about 1,800.

Adamson obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from Johannesburg College of Education, in South Africa, and a master’s and doctorate degrees in school administration from California State University Fullerton.

Robert Down Is Racist?

Sticks and stones . . .  And stop consuming media that openly uses such language. Geeze, I know of a RHD kid that was run up the flagpole for a song about making love in a hurricane.

The former Pacific Grove resident who said that her sons were subjected to racism at a Pacific Grove elementary school and that school officials didn’t adequately respond to her complaints, held an emotional press conference outside the school late last week.
At a Sept. 21 press conference held by the local NAACP chapter, Valerie Anthony, 45, claimed that her three boys suffered “racial trauma” while they were students at Robert Down Elementary School. ‘They come home, and they want to know what’s a ‘ —-‘ because children on the playground are calling them that at school,” Anthony told a TV news reporter at the press conference in front of the school.

Cultural Proficiency Takes Precedence For Teachers

Grading practices? In the 1970s it was pass ’em all regardless of the child’s ability to prove they were educated.

Oh, and having the DEI people on board can’t be a good sign.

Included in the ongoing cultural proficiency training for PGUSD staff, he said, are “instructional materials that represent diverse and “culturally proficient instructional strategies and grading practices.

The district invited members of the city’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force to attend the board meeting to listen in on the topic.

PGUSD’s invitation to members of the DEI Task Force this week comes after the task force’s vice chair, Nadja Mark, was accused of comparing a seemingly noncontroversial online comment by a citizen and member of the city’s economic development commission to the work of Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
That comment and other remarks Mark made on social media violated the city’s code of conduct, which prohibits members of city commissions and committees from making negative comments, including on social media, that could offend members of the public, and compels them to “show tolerance and respect other party’s opinions.”

The Safety Dog Is Not Looking For Unsafe Lithium Batteries

Does the dog check the teacher’s belongings too?

A drug-sniffing golden retriever discovered a marijuana vape pen, while district officials found one package of marijuana edibles, two marijuana vape pens and three nicotine vape pens.

When the school administrator, along with the dog and handler and their support staff, enter a classroom the administrator announces to the class, ‘the safety dog is here today, please leave your backpacks and belongings in the classroom and exit the room with your teacher,

P.G. School Employee Arrested For Sex With Underage Boy

I wonder what the bumper stickers on Chyo’s car said.

Andrew Chyo

Pacific Grove Police said that a man was arrested Tuesday at around 7:30 a.m. on nine felony oral copulation charges against a minor.

A victim reported to police in April that Andrew Chyo, 26, had allegedly sexually assaulted them in 2019 when they were 17-years-old, according to police.

Mr. Chyo was employed by the District in roles that included high school tutor, instructional assistant at both Pacific Grove Middle School and Pacific Grove High School, assistant Pacific Grove High School athletic coach, and short term hourly work supporting school staff at high school functions. He was employed during specific periods between 2015-2021 school year.

Special Need Children’s Service Founder Guilty Of Embezzlement

Hired a real accountant and was nailed by them. No surprise that the schools happily forked over the money with no proof of work.

Lolita Garcia, 60 the founder of a nonprofit called Central Coast Kids & Families, which provided services to families of children with special needs — was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzlement, tax evasion, submitting false invoices, and theft by false pretenses. Garcia billed schools for in-school services and a state nonprofit for in-home services that never happened.

Garcia got caught after an accountant she hired to do her finances noticed in 2015 that it appeared she had diverted charitable funds. The CPA tipped off the state attorney general’s office, which notified the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office. The case was investigated by investigator Jackie Meroney and forensic auditor Sandra Kyzivat. They examined hundreds of invoices and timesheets for the 2013- 2014 and 2014-2015 school years and discovered that Garcia intentionally overbilled the districts and others for a total of $192,823

Another Vote To Pour Money Into Schools

We keep hearing that schools need more money to educate the children, but all I see are multi-million dollar football fields, parking lots and administration buildings.

No Shortcuts Through Robert Down

After school, before school during school. Not so public property for man talking to himself.

Robert Down Prison

On Dec. 14 about 4:20 p.m., police said the man entered
the Spruce Avenue gate of Robert Down Elementary School
and walked onto the schoolyard near students who were playing basketball.
“They were startled by the man’s demeanor and recalled
that he was talking to himself,” Robert Down principal Sean
Keller told parents through a Dec. 14 email message.
Though class was not in session, numerous students were
still at Robert Down as part of an after-school program. Keller— citing the police — said the man “has never shown aggression toward others,” and entered the school yard merely as a“shortcut through the campus.”
