More Tainted Produce From Salinas

All the money that Sam-The-Sham Farr takes from us and gives to the agriculture industry does no good for our safety. Sam, keep your dirty filthy hands off my wallet!

Some of the lettuce used in recalled Hearts Delight mixed salads has been traced back to the Salinas Valley.

Marty Ordman, spokesman for Dole Food Co. Inc, said the three lettuces in the “Hearts Delight” mix are romaine, butter lettuce and green leaf lettuce. The romaine came from the Salinas Valley and Colorado, the butter lettuce from Ohio and green leaf from Salinas Valley.

Spinach Poisoning People Again, Gets Recalled

A Salinas Valley spinach grower issued a voluntary recall late Tuesday for bagged spinach after lab tests confirmed the presence of salmonella. The recall involves 8,118 cases of bagged spinach distributed by Metz Fresh LLC of King City and processed by a contract facility in Watsonville.

Sold under the Metz Fresh label, the spinach was sold to retail outlets and food service providers across the United States and Canada in 10-ounce and 16-ounce bags, as well as in 4-pound cartons and in 2.5-pound four-pack cartons, with tracking codes 12208114, 12208214 and 12208314.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, salmonella bacteria live in the intestinal tracts of humans and animals, including birds. Undercooked eggs, poultry or meat are the most common sources of salmonellosis in humans, although other foods, such as vegetables, may be contaminated.

WHAT? AGAIN? After all that money the Sam “the Sham” Farr took from taxpayers to ensure safe veggies?? Where did that money go anyway?

Spinach Poisoning People Again, Gets Recalled

Letters From The Editor

Sam Farr has been our representative more than 14 years now. Under his leadership, Salinas has become overwhelmed by gang violence, King City High School and Hartnell College have lost accreditation, and we have endured our third and fourth decades of water rationing.

But don’t be too critical, folks. Sam Farr is working hard to impeach our president, cure global warming and serve his jury duty.

. . and spend lots of your tax dollars while doing it

Sam The Sham Still Wasting Taxpayer Dollars

Farr Piggy

When it comes to saving taxpayer dollars, U.S. Rep. Sam Farr receives low marks, according to a study released Monday by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.

Farr, D-Carmel, scored just 5 percent on the group’s annual congressional rating. The score was lower than both the average 9 percent for House Democrats and the average 29 percent for House members.

The group rated 21 key votes in the Senate, including votes to reduce spending in appropriations bills, enact earmark reform and repeal the estate tax. The average Senate score was 44 percent.

Sam The Sham Farr Named ‘Porker Of The Month’

Farr Piggy

Citizens Against Government Waste today named Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, the nation’s Porker of the Month for adding $25 million for spinach growers to the fiscal 2007 emergency supplemental bill.

The House of Representatives will soon vote on the U.S. Readiness, Veterans’ Health and Iraq Accountability Act of 2007, which costs $21 billion more than the President’s request — mostly because of domestic spending unrelated to military operations added by lawmakers to the bill.

Sam The Sham loves to spend our money. Not in any way that is helpful to most Americans, just those that vote like him, in lock step with Democrats. Heck, if Farr needed to make a right turn, he’d spend more time and money by turning left three times.

Back in October the Californian reported
that Sam was requesting ‘only’ 6 million for e. coli research. Looks like with each left turn the cost goes up . . .

Or taxpayer money well spent…

Nearly two years after installing a series of overhead lights along a section of the Recreation Trail, Sand City officials may have to tear them down.

That’s because, according to state Coastal Commission staff members, the current lights pose “adverse impacts to the sensitive dune(s) by altering nocturnal conditions in a manner that could affect species composition and behavior.”

According to Mayor David Pendergrass, Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, brought up the lights issue to the Coastal Commission. Farr spokesman Alec Arago said the congressman had “expressed concern about the aesthetics of the lights.

“aesthetics of the lights”? This is not a wild remote nature preserve we have here, they are beside a frontage road that parallels a freeway. The recreation trail attracts people and promotes healthy alternative to cars. It needs to be safer.

Newcomer Challenges Sham Farr

As one letter from the editor puts it, an empty chair would be preferable to Sam The Sham

With one candidate vanished from the 17th District House of Representatives race, two are still in the running for the position in November.
U.S. Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, who has held the seat since 1993, faces newcomer Jeff Taylor, a last-minute Republican write-in candidate who supplants Anthony De Maio in next Tuesday’s election. De Maio, a finance entrepreneur whose name remains on the ballot, did not return repeated calls for comment.

And wants more tax dollars to research it.

To prevent future E. coli outbreaks linked to leafy greens, U.S. Rep. Sam Farr said Friday he will request $6 million in federal funds for food-safety research.

Farr’s comments followed a closed-door meeting of about 75 Salinas-area growers, agricultural officials and lawmakers who discussed potential strategies for making local produce safer and restoring the confidence of consumers in the wake of the nationwide E. coli outbreak.

Yep, throw more taxpayer money at it Sam, that’s your shtick. What about making the growers and sellers of contaminated food pay for the study? Here, I’ll do it for free:
E. coli is poop. Animals are pooping or spreading poop in fields. Keep animals out, or clean the food before selling it. No charge, Sam. Now get your grubby hands off my wallet.

Where’d They Hide The Body?

Sam The Sham Farr and the case of the missing opponent.

During his three decades in public office, Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, has experienced election campaigns and political opponents of nearly every stripe. He’s faced serious challenges and less-serious challenges, mainstream-party opponents and alternative-party opponents.

But even the veteran Farr has never faced an opponent quite like Anthony DeMaio.

That’s because after filing late and running unopposed in the Republican primary, DeMaio has all but disappeared. The phantom candidate hasn’t answered repeated phone calls and e-mails seeking comment.

Sounds like the making of a conspiracy – what did they do with DeMaio?
Sam The Sham has been on the radio lately, whining about housing costs and the lack of affordable housing in his area. If he thinks he can do something about it WHY DID HE LET IT GET THIS MESSED UP TO BEGIN WITH?

Sam The Sham Farr’s Uneducated Remark Stirs Letter Writers

In a Nov. 4 Herald article, Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, stated, “I think if the rest of the country had invested in higher education like California, you would have had a more educated electorate and a California outcome in the rest of the country.” What an outrageous statement.

By the way, I hold a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and I’ll hold my education up to Farr’s any day of the week. And guess what. I voted for George Bush. Farr just insulted more than half of the voting public in the United States. What arrogance.

There are probably a number of words to describe a person with his attitude. To me, the word snob comes to mind.

Rep. Sam Farr’s comment, “I think if the rest of the country had invested in higher education like California, you would have had a more educated electorate and a California outcome in the rest of the country,” demonstrates just how far out of touch with reality the Democratic Party really is.

As this self-declared savant knows full well, California ranked 44th in “smartness” (see www.morganquitno.com) of the 50 states last year — that must be why the state keeps sending people like Farr back to Congress.

Rep. Sam Farr’s blaming President Bush’s victory on the status of the nation-wide education system is an insult to all that live in a red state. There are some pretty good universities in those states. Notre Dame, Duke, Purdue, Wake Forest, LSU and Drake come to mind.

This sort of reckless, holier-than-thou statement is the exact reason the Democrats lost this past election. As long as the pretentious, liberal wing of the Democratic Party with these sorts of declarations prevails, the Democrats will continue to be defeated in nationwide elections.

So I guess he’s saying that most of the states in the union are populated by a bunch of illiterate idiots, unable to make informed decisions because they are so stupid.

On behalf of all my friends and family that are spread out all across the country, thank you, Mr. Farr.
