Possibly a suicide
The Monterey County Sheriff’s dive team recovered a body off of the Pacific Grove coastline on Monday.
The call came in Monday reporting that a body was floating in the water near one of the turnouts on Oceanview Boulevard, officials reported.
Search and rescue teams recovered the body and on Tuesday dive teams returned to the water to search for any evidence under the water. The victim did not appear to be a diver.
Dead Body Found Off Shore
A 41-year-old Monterey woman whose body was discovered Thursday morning in Los Padres National Forest was the daughter of local celebrity chef John Pisto, according to a Monterey County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Tawni Neikirk’s body was found on a private rural road off near the Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy at about 10:50 a.m., sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Richards said.

The remains of John Hauswirth, an 82-year-old Pacific Grove man who went missing in March, were found Friday in Pebble Beach by four Stevenson School students walking through the woods.
Hauswirth, who suffered from dementia, disappeared March 11. His wife told police he wandered away while the two were doing yard work on a rental property on Euclid Street in Monterey, about six miles from where the remains were found.

Sgt. Mike Richards said hikers on Thursday found the remains in a cave near Highway 1, two miles north of the county line. Richards said the bones of a nearly complete skeleton do not appear to be of recent vintage.
The remains could be from a Chinese worker who helped build Highway 1, he said.

A man’s body was found Tuesday near 275 Lighthouse Ave. in Monterey, police reported.
John Knudsen, a transient known to local police for years, was found dead at 4:05 a.m. Monterey police officers said they didn’t know Knudsen’s age.
Transient Dies On Lighthouse Avenue
The body discovered Thanksgiving Day on a Monterey beach was identified Monday as Chris Haugen, a Marina man who had been missing for 12 days after a sailing excursion in Monterey Harbor.
Haugen disappeared Nov. 11 after he took out the Lorraine, a sailboat that belonged to his employer. He set off about 3 p.m. But the boat was found running in circles, with its outboard motor running and nobody on board about two hours later.
