There’s no room for a basic auto parts store on Lighthouse anymore. In the proud P.G tradition (no, it’s not going to be a gallery) it’s going to be a secondhand clothing store.

Google Maps’ Street View
Google’s Street View is now available in Pacific Grove (and much more of the Monterey Peninsula).
The original intent of LighthouseAvenue.com was to be a local version of Google Street View combined with Yellow pages. Each address would have a subdomain such as 565.lighthouseavenue.com. I would have sold home pages to stores at each address and become rich. Since I never was a salesperson type, that fell through.
Streetview is neat, check it out.

Green, Carbon Neutral, Sustainable, Ghetto
Nothing like making your image of being green and offsetting some CO2 with flower pots outside the business. Live flowers to brighten the day.
But remember that most people don’t give a hoot and use your flower pots for cigarette butts and other trash:

After the flowers die from neglect it gets worse:

Not sure who takes care of these things – it’s in the 500 bock in front of Monte Cafe.
Where Local ‘Art’ Comes From
Is it the artist’s rendition of a never to be witnessed again slice of time?
Does each painting capture the artist’s feelings and impact of the sights before them?
No, they copy a digital photo. When they sell THAT painting they’ll copy it again and sell it again..

Brown Green Spot – Is That Really Safe?
Unsafe storage of high amperage lead acid batteries? No leak protection, terminals not covered and a nearby accumulation of flammables.

In other words, the “Green Spot” that is looks mostly brown, is also a “Dump Spot” and Eyesore. It’s the Down Town Farm all over again.
Now That’s Original
Not!
At least the previous failed art gallery left it’s signs up, so you know what it is/was.
Storefront empty since last September is now occupied. By another art gallery. No wonder there is no sales tax revenue in P.G.
What about advertising revenue? Even the cheapest weekly papers are full of ads for dining, health, real estate and retail but it’s evident that galleries do not “shop local” for services.
In the June 4, 2008 issue of the Bulletin, there is only 1 art gallery ad.
In the June 6, 2008 issue of the Pine Cone, there are only 2 both for Carmel galleries.
One Restaurant Is Serious About It’s Trash
Not only did they take down the Christmas in April lights, the back of the place is always clean and never has trash spilling out of undersized cans like Lighthouse Cafe, Juice’n’Java, or Passionfish.

They Gave It All Their Heart And . .
Heart & Soul. Mix of beauty parlor and requisite art gallery and jewelry store.
Lasted little less than 5 months
Beginning of year:
Alexis Everett says she has always been interested in hair styling and finally decided to bring her “Heart And Soul” to Pacific Grove and open her own business
PG Hometown Bulletin, 1/2/08

Today:

Sign in window, early April. Knew it was a loser back then, eh?
Slow Down On Lighthouse Avenue
Remember when there was more common courtesy in downtown P.G? Now with tourists unfamiliar with the 15 MPH limit, diagonal parking and crosswalks we need more signs.
