Recycle, Sustain, B.S
A few attention whores talk big about going green and ‘saving’ Pacific Grove. The rest of the people shrug and don’t give a hoot.
Cans, Glass, Plastic. And Hear-Old ad inserts?

It’s not dumping, it’s freecycling!

When Styrofoam Is Outlawed . .
The replacement solutions become the problem. Wrap take-out in foil and that gets washed into the storm drains where marine life either eat it and die or at least get disturbed the the galvanic reactions.
Next on the list of things to be ignorant about – aluminum foil. It’s not about the item, it’s human behavior that needs to be addressed.

John Denver Memorial Summer Update
The rock is either prepared to get the plaque or the plaque’s been swiped. Probably the former.

Newspaper Racks Chain Themselves To Pole In Protest
The runaway racks chased away from the front of the post office back in April have been spotted gathering in the parking lot on Forest Avenue by the Grove Market.
The rusty or sun-faded dispensers of that obsolete media called newspapers and other pulp goods of dubious value are taking a stand this time. They have chained themselves up to signposts and trees in the traditions of UCSC and UC Berzerkley.

No More Kragen Auto Parts
There’s no room for a basic auto parts store on Lighthouse anymore. In the proud P.G tradition (no, it’s not going to be a gallery) it’s going to be a secondhand clothing store.
Google Maps’ Street View
Google’s Street View is now available in Pacific Grove (and much more of the Monterey Peninsula).
The original intent of LighthouseAvenue.com was to be a local version of Google Street View combined with Yellow pages. Each address would have a subdomain such as 565.lighthouseavenue.com. I would have sold home pages to stores at each address and become rich. Since I never was a salesperson type, that fell through.
Streetview is neat, check it out.

Green, Carbon Neutral, Sustainable, Ghetto
Nothing like making your image of being green and offsetting some CO2 with flower pots outside the business. Live flowers to brighten the day.
But remember that most people don’t give a hoot and use your flower pots for cigarette butts and other trash:

After the flowers die from neglect it gets worse:

Not sure who takes care of these things – it’s in the 500 bock in front of Monte Cafe.
