David Dilworth is without doubt one of Pacific Grove’s finest native sons! His achievements in the areas of environment and democracy are legendary. No one attends as many local and area-wide meetings as Dave, not to further his own interests, but looking out for his fellow citizens and their quality of life.

Cort says his decision to resign is still firm: “I’m not changing my mind.”
While Dilworth’s recall threat isn’t the only reason he’s throwing in the towel, he says, it’s a “symptom” of a persistent lack of civility at P.G. City Council meetings. “I want this to be about respect and dialogue in government,” Cort says. “Meeting after meeting, a small group of people comes and disrupts and threatens our council. It really makes it difficult to get our work done. This insulting, demeaning behavior is something that’s gotta end.”

I’m in favor of tearing these moldy tired hotels down and rebuilding but not increasing the room count. Cannery Row & Seaside are getting all the business.
In a small city with a lot of hotels, the decline in hotel tax is significant.
“It’s 19 percent of the general fund,” said Jim Becklenberg, Pacific Grove’s director of management and budget.
Pacific Grove hotel tax revenue dropped 14 percent in fiscal year 2008-09 from the previous year, less of a drop than the city was anticipating. Pacific Grove has “a relatively small reserve,” Becklenberg said.
But not the to persons attacked. Best way to apologize to the community would be to crawl back under a rock and never emerge.
Pacific Grove resident David Dilworth has issued another e-mail, this time apologizing for his previous e-mail to Mayor Dan Cort that told him to resign or face a recall.
Dilworth would not comment further on the letter, saying it was addressed “to the whole community” and that it speaks for itself.
In an email, Dilworth said he has “learned good people were angered and saddened” by his actions last week.
“I made a mistake using words that reasonable people find politically threatening and inappropriate,” he wrote. “I accept responsibility for these consequences and I deeply regret how my actions have upset good people.I promise to be much more careful of my words and comportment in the future.”
Unlike the big fussy press conference in front of the post office at the launch of the attack, he taps out a (too late) apology.

Cort, however, said Dilworth made no attempt to communicate with him or any other city council member since last week’s original e-mail and said Dilworth wants “the media to forgive him.”

One of the proponents for the ouster of Pacific Grove Mayor Dan Cort issued an apology Sunday for his actions.
Cort said Sunday he had not received a copy of that letter. He said still believes his stepping down will end what he says has been a distraction in getting the city back on track.
Sure. Applause that he outed himself, showing everyone what kind of person he really is..
Dilworth deserves applause
The Herald may have managed to demonize David Dilworth for standing up to the mayor and governance in Pacific Grove, but it took at least three articles including an editorial and reprinting Dilworth’s letter to Mayor Dan Cort several times to make Dilworth the demon.
Was 2nd from the last. More people voted for Loosin’ Susan than him.
Recall votes don’t seem to be there
If David Dilworth couldn’t get enough votes to be elected to the Pacific Grove City Council in 2008, and previously, why does he think he can get enough to recall Mayor Dan Cort, and council members Deborah Lindsay, Bill Kampe, and Vicki Stilwell?
