Weed and Gangs. Crime follows logical path.
Authorities in Monterey County said a person was wounded in a shooting near a cannabis dispensary Monday night.
According to Seaside Fire & Police, officers were called to The Reef dispensary on the 1900 block of Fremont Boulevard around 8:20 p.m. Police said a young adult was shot outside the business.
Following a March 4 preliminary hearing, Monterey County Superior Court Judge Rafael Vazquez found there was sufficient evidence to believe Razo committed two counts of attempted premeditated murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and he ordered her to stand trial.
Razo also faces several enhancements, including causing great bodily injury. She’s being held in Monterey County Jail. Her bail has increased to $2,030,000.

At about 4:40 a.m., Jennifer Razo, 39, shot the unidentified woman in the rear parking lot of Patisserie Bechler at 1225 Forest Avenue. Scores of police officers from Pacific Grove Police Department and numerous other law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene. Officers assisted the victim, and medical crews took her to a hospital. But Razo wouldn’t give up, and “she put a gun toward her head and threatened to shoot herself,”
She broke a window to the office of the bakery and tried to get inside, where the victim and Razo’s estranged husband — who also works at the bakery — were trying to shield themselves.
Just because it’s not Salinas or Watsonville doesn’t make it any safer.
Jorge Luis Mendoza, 21, is wanted by the Monterey Police Department as the possible culprit in the killing of Raul Melendez, 28, who was shot Nov. 23 at the entrance to the Cannery Row parking garage on Wave Street.
Monterey police detectives say Mendoza is a gang member who most recently lived in Salinas. He’s currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and is considered armed and dangerous.
Melendez suffered several gunshot wounds and was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
Monterey investigators also identified the men who stabbed each other Saturday at the Blue Fin Billiards and Café, as Joel Robledo, 40, of Salinas and Frank Guzman, 27, of Castroville. Both men were transported to Natividad Medical Center for their injuries.
Not much violent crime in that part of the city?
Monterey Police Department officers found Raul Melendez shot multiple times at the entrance of the Cannery Row garage when they responded to a call for help at 1:41 a.m. Wednesday. Melendez, a Monterey resident, was transported to Natividad Medical Trauma Center in Salinas, where he died of his injuries.
“There has not been a homicide in that area since 1991,” Lt. Mike Bruno said. “That particular area of the city … is pretty rare where we have such a violent crime like that.”
