Pacific Gove residents are most interested in using nearly $2 million in federal Covid-19 aid the city is getting to fund upgrades to streets, intersections and sidewalks and least interested in using the money for government technology upgrades, according to the results of a survey from 847 people.

The survey asked citizens to rank how they would like the federal taxpayer dollars to be spent on a scale of 1-5. Public infrastructure received the strongest responses and got a 3.7 average rating.

‘On Thursday, Monterey County Superior Court Judge Julie R. Culver tossed Councilwoman Jenny McAdams’ request for a restraining order against former P.G. city councilman Dan Miller

McAdams claimed Miller had “harassed” her because, among other things, she didn’t like what Miller wrote about her. She claimed to “remain in a state of fear” from Miller.

But Culver strongly rejected McAdams” arguments, saying that Miller has the right to cover her in the newspaper.

Culver said Miller could recover his attorney’s fees, and the parties will be back in court in June.

“Our legal strategy is to work with the City of Pacific Grove, the Ohlone Costanoan Esselen Nation, and the California Coastal Commission to demonstrate that the Public Buildings Reform Board failed to engage with local stakeholders, as legally required, when it recommended inclusion of the NOAA property in the portfolio of ‘high value’ properties to be sold through the Federal Assets Sale Transfer Act,” the group explained. “Perhaps more importantly, the board issued a report in December 2021 explicitly stating that the Pacific Grove property does not meet its current evaluation criteria for a ‘high value’ property. “

A 32-year-old man has pleaded guilty to using a cellphone to peak at someone in a fitting room at a store and possessing child pornography in Newport Beach.

Jordan Thomas Pollacci was sentenced to 116 days in jail, or time already served in custody, according to court records obtained Monday.

Pollacci “looked through a hole and opening and otherwise viewed by means of a cellphone camera into a fitting room with the intent to invade the privacy of the person or persons inside,” according to court records.

After searching a Pebble Beach home last week as part of a sexual assault investigation, Monterey County Sheriff’s detectives ultimately found and seized thousands of rounds of ammunition and dozens of guns.

On Thursday, deputies served a search warrant issued for the Shepard’s Knoll residence of 56-year-old Michael Abbott. The search yielded over 80 firearms, more than 50,000 rounds of ammunition, and hundreds of magazines for various firearms, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Abbott is a previous gun shop owner, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrel Simpson added.

On Thursday the Monterey County Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant in Sheppard’s Knoll to investigate the sexual assault of a 17-year-old victim.

Michael Abbott, 55 of Pebble Beach, allegedly entered a B.DS.M (Bondage/Discipline/Submission/ Masochism) relationship with the victim against their will, where the victim was coerced into being the submissive partner, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Abbott met the female victim on social media and enrolled her in an online submissive training course and met her several times for sexual encounters.
