Frutchey claimed former planning officials “repeatedly approved projects after only partial or faulty analysis and otherwise sidestepped local and state requirements.”
His message — which infuriated previous planners, a former P.G. mayor and others — also alleged “staff made decisions that either were not theirs to make or were not in conformance with the codes.”

In response to the survey question, “how would you describe Thomas Pollacci?” the convicted rapist was called “vicious, despicable, guilty,” “evil,” a “slime ball” and “scuzz bag” an “egotistical guy who has to rape to feel superior,” Geringer reported.
“When I talked to these people, they were vicious and very, very angry,” she said.
But Eugene Bregman — a political polling expert retained by prosecutor Michael Breeden — reviewed Geringer’s survey said he found it was fatally flawed and took issue with the questionnaire and her sampling techniques.
“The biggest problem in the survey is that it’s not vaguely representative of the jury pool that will be called,” said Bregman, who said he was being paid no more than $4,000, also from taxpayers, for his work.

The city is ending its fiscal year on a high note, but city leaders aren’t calling it a success until they can bring back some of the services they took away three years ago. Those services include library hours and street maintenance.

Geringer said Pollacci’s potential jury pool had been poisoned by extensive media coverage and word of mouth. She initially characterized much of the coverage as “unfair,” but later said she defined that as reporting that included negative information about Pollacci.

Breeden noted that it took only three days to seat a jury in Pollacci’s last trial and said if Geringer’s opinions are true, it would be apparent as soon as jury selection begins June 13. State law suggests that judges make an effort to find a local jury before changing venue. The last time a case was moved out of Monterey County was in the early 1980s.

After a months-long investigation, last Thursday, federal agents recovered several thousand child porn pictures and hundreds of videos on his work computer, that he originally deleted.

Atef Samir Gergawy, 38, was taken into custody by Pacific Grove police officers April 29 on allegations he tried to rape his wife — whom police refer to as Jane Doe — and injured his son earlier in April.
