Option 1, pipeline:

For $25 million, we could build a pipeline from the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency plant back to the communities on the Peninsula, where this water originates. MRWPCA treats all the sewage that comes from the cities of Pacific Grove and Monterey. Once the water is treated, it is used to irrigate about 12,000 acres of Salinas farmland, then approximately 10,000 acre-feet is emptied into Monterey Bay.

A pipeline can deliver that wasted water back to the golf courses, parks and public areas of the Peninsula.

Option 2, gray water:

Our communities have the option to mandate that all residents make use of gray water. Our county Health Department and most of our Peninsula cities support the use of gray water, which uses recycled water from showers and sinks to flush toilets and irrigate our gardens. A residential retrofit costs less than $2,000 per household and can save upward of 30 percent of water use in a normal home.

Option 3, David Avenue Reservoir:
A huge untapped asset is the David Avenue Reservoir. This phenomenal resource, built in 1897 by Chinese immigrants, served Pacific Grove and New Monterey for decades.

On Nov. 10, the District Attorney’s Office said, Jose Cruz was found installing a concrete driveway without a contractor’s license and didn’t possess workers’ compensation insurance for his employees who were working at a site in Pacific Grove.

They said Cruz told a Contractors State Licensing Board investigator that he injured his back while on the job the previous day. The District Attorney’s Office said Cruz had required a deposit of half of the $3,050 contract prior to starting the project – a down payment amount considered excessive by law.

Sure, America’s Last Hometown still struggles with out-of-control CalPERS costs and bickering political camps, but real estate values have held relatively steady. And the downtown commercial vacancy rate has dropped from about 25 percent last year to half of that, according to P.G. Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar.

Rabobank recently filled the former World Savings Bank space on Lighthouse Avenue, he says. And The Alliance on Aging just signed a lease to run a high-end consignment shop in the old Hallmark building, which sat empty for almost five years. Other new retailers include a doll shop, a teen clothing store and two art galleries.

Nothing for locals to see, move along.

The plan offers two alternatives: a centralized campus at the Presidio, consolidating instruction and troop housing there, with two new barracks buildings, three instructional buildings and four multi-level parking garages, or construction of the new barracks and instructional buildings at Ord Military Community, with parking garages at the Presidio.

It also calls for a future access gate to the installation at Holman Highway.

Most of those projects, including the new gate, are scheduled for fiscal 2017 or later and have not been approved by Congress, Elliott said.

Agenda 21 usurps sovereignty, property rights, economic liberty, and basically hands over power, resources and land to unelected elitists … to control the populations of every country in the world. Agenda 21 purports to address environmental issues, but calls for wealth redistribution, resource redistribution, food redistribution, energy restrictions, supposed social justice, and more. It is NOT about the environment, though it pretends to be.”

The lights drawing protest include six 24-foot-tall fiberglass poles with attached LED lights, solar panels and battery units, which some residents say look out of place in the scenic neighborhood.

But according to NOAA, the new low-wattage lights are an improvement over the old halogen system because they are “dark sky certified,” turn off three hours after sunset and turn on one hour before sunrise, and don’t have as much effect on the night sky, points reiterated by the coastal commission.

“The LED lights will reduce the footprint and intensity of night-time lighting when compared to the previous non-directional searchlights that illuminated the [NOAA] parking lots,” Delaplaine wrote, “and the commission believes this element of the project yields a reduction in adverse lighting effects on adjacent neighborhoods and environmentally sensitive habitat.”

Sheriff Miller’s Son Arrested On Drug Charges

Cmdr. Jerry Teeter said Miller was arrested at the residence on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives found the drugs packaged in a manner consistent with sales, Teeter said.

The search began about 11 a.m., and according to a neighbor, deputies remained on the property until about 2:30 p.m.

Sheriff Miller said he first learned of the investigation shortly before deputies arrested his son.

“I was informed they were executing a search warrant on my son’s apartment while they were on the property and knocking on the door,” Sheriff Miller said.

Tom Pollacci won’t have to face the woman whose powerful testimony riveted his first rape trial last spring, with her story of being kidnapped in her bathrobe and raped by him in 1980 when she was just 16 years old.

But seven other women who say they were raped by Pollacci — including Jane Doe 10, whose accusations resulted in his conviction in April 2010 and sentence of eight years in prison — will be allowed to testify against him on charges of raping two more victims in 2007 and 2008, a judge ruled Friday.Prosecutors now say there at least 10 women were victimized by Pollacci during a crime spree that began when he was 20 years old and continued while he worked at his family’s liquor stores in Carmel and Pacific Grove
