Contractor Fraud In P.G.

Your taxes and SDI witholding at work. An injured chef caught doing concrete work. Maybe that’s why the biscuits were rock hard.

On Nov. 10, the District Attorney’s Office said, Jose Cruz was found installing a concrete driveway without a contractor’s license and didn’t possess workers’ compensation insurance for his employees who were working at a site in Pacific Grove.

They said Cruz told a Contractors State Licensing Board investigator that he injured his back while on the job the previous day. The District Attorney’s Office said Cruz had required a deposit of half of the $3,050 contract prior to starting the project – a down payment amount considered excessive by law.
