$1,000 reward for finding out who dumped a dog. Nothing to find out who raped a teenager.

Don’t Feed The Gulls, Or Fight Them Off
(CBS13)
You may get arrested.

Dragan Djuric, 50, of Wichita, Kansas, and his wife were eating ice cream New Year’s Eve on the boardwalk at Main Beach when a flock of birds attacked them, Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jeff Calvert said.
One bird hit Djuric’s wife in the head and tried to take the ice cream. Djuric was defecated on.
The couple dropped the frozen food and Djuric began hitting the birds with a stick, Calvert said.
Djuric was cited and released on suspicion of animal cruelty.
Denis Wagner, Poet. And Arrested For Child Porn.
Free poetry from the Internet:
There once was a man from Dundee,
Who molested an ape in a tree,
The result was most horrid,
All arse and no forehead,
Three balls and a purple goatee!

Denis Edward Wagner pleaded not guilty to two counts of possessing child porn. Prosecutor Gary Thelander asked Judge Russell Scott to increase Wagner’s bail from $10,000 to $100,000, arguing Wagner was a danger to the community because he might “act upon his impulses.”
Wagner is among the writers who have contributed their works to “The Anthology of Monterey Bay Poets.” In October, he participated in “The Big Read: The Poetry of Robinson Jeffers.”

(San Jose Mercury)
Police raided a wedding between a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl in Pakistan’s largest city, arresting the Muslim cleric officiating at the ceremony and the children’s parents, a senior officer said today.
Pakistan law forbids marriage below the age of 18, but some Muslim scholars say it is permissible if the bride and groom have reached puberty.
Seaside Auto Mall Reopens

Nearly two years and $20 million after construction began, Seaside marked the end of renovations at its auto center with a grand reopening last week.
Auto center dealerships, however, don’t have a lot more to celebrate as the country struggles through one of its toughest economic slumps since the Great Depression.
But city officials and Seaside auto dealers hope the auto mall’s facelift will help bring back shoppers.
“Anytime you redecorate, clean things up, improve the appearance, the visibility — it can’t hurt,” Linder said.
Nice picture above. Now here’s the real reopening. The same old thing, tents, banners, flags and a giant blue gorilla. Yep, redecorated and cleaned up.
Not to mention most of the dealers have an identity problem, they are afraid to say “Seaside” and make shoppers think they are in Monterey.

Hang Up And Drive, Stupid!

Teachers Union Dues – Where They Go
For or against it is a personal choice, but what does this have to do with education, or the advancement & support of teachers?
Labor unions are no longer relevant to labor. They exist only to give the union administrators a paycheck, and money into political campaigns.
California’s largest teacher’s union has given another $1 million to defeat a Nov. 4 ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
The contribution recorded Tuesday makes the California Teachers Association the largest institutional donor to the No on 8 campaign. CTA also gave $250,000 in August to Equality for All, a coalition of gay advocacy and civil rights groups opposing Proposition 8.

Why Kids Can’t Read
They are too busy being taught to be vegans.
A non-profit program called Farm To School is promoting healthy eating habits in school. The program partners with local farms, parents and school cafeterias to make eating fruits and vegetables the norm in a child’s diet.
Hey, bacon comes from farms, too!
California Produce Still Tainted with E. coli
This time it’s iceberg lettuce.
An E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in tainted iceberg lettuce that sickened 36 people in Michigan last month has been traced back to California growers.
The outbreak, involving bagged, industrial-sized packages of iceberg lettuce sold through wholesale venues to restaurants and institutions, sickened students at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, and inmates at Lenawee County Jail before spreading to metro Detroit.
Bob Perkins, executive director of the Monterey County Farm Bureau, said September is peak season for Salinas Valley lettuce growers.
“That’s when our growers are very busy,” said Perkins. “If it’s California bagged lettuce, there’s a real probability that it will be tied to our area, or to somebody that we know.”
