MyCaregiver Not Open, Not Selling Pot

Pot Club Closed

The group that opened a medical marijuana dispensary at 554 Lighthouse Ave. in Monterey will keep its center open as a meeting place for current members of their cooperative, said a member who answered the door Thursday.

The member, who identified himself only as Marc, said the court order issued March 12 against the cooperative, MyCaregiver Inc., prohibits only operation of a medical marijuana dispensary at the location.

No pot sales? It’s all in the perception of the law, after all they called it “Health care Cooperative/Individual & Family Services” when it opened.

The council also approved a number of “housekeeping” ordinances, including changes in regulations of microwave equipment and antennas.

Resident Lorna Moffett said the council should consider health problems that could be caused by microwave radiation from cell phone towers. She said proposed antenna locations should be marked so the public would be aware of them.

Monterey Sues To Stop Pot Shop

“Dave’s Not Here!”

No Pot Club

Monterey has sued the proprietor of a medical marijuana dispensary alleging that the business violated the city’s zoning codes by setting up shop in town last fall.

City officials filed the complaint against MyCaregiver Inc. and director Jhonrico Carrnshimba on Monday, after the City Council voted 4-1 in closed session Feb. 2 to authorize legal action against the clinic, which has been operating at 554 Lighthouse Ave. since November.

Also Feb. 2, the council finalized a 45-day moratorium on medical marijuana clinics, initiated under an emergency ordinance. Council member Jeff Haferman dissented.

It has looked busier than normal at nights on the ‘Row. Downtown P.G. is it’s normal ghost town.

An unusually busy Wednesday night in Monterey, and it’s all because of the AT&T Pro-Am. Several Central Coast businesses say the Pro-Am has brought much needed relief, but others say so far, the tournament hasn’t had much of an impact yet.

“Business on Cannery Row has improved tremendously. There’s a lot of foot traffic and people from all over are coming into town,” says Bakery Owner Deborah Hannas.
