Tom Frutchey Throws Former Planners Under Bus

Ever have an application rejected only to see a similar one breeze through?

In the April 15 email, Tom Frutchey painted a picture of a former planning department in complete disarray. Frutchey, among other things, claimed planners carelessly signed off on projects — and said that’s why it took less time to process applications and issue permits than it does now.

“Yes, things were much better in the old days, in large part, because staff didn’t folow the law,” Frutchey wrote. “Staff repeatedly approved projects after only partial or faulty analysis and otherwise sidestepped local and state requirements.”

Ugly Tourist Information Sign Is Non Compliant?

Even if you do get a permit, you don’t have to abide by the conditions? Can’t wait before the corner looks like a San Jose used car lot with banners, flags, whirygigs and stuff.

Tourist Misinformation

“While the sign is ugly,” Ammar concedes, “it does attract people.”The sign isn’t too far off the shape of the old China Garden sign, except it’s not arched like the old one. And it isn’t the marker the city originally OK’d.

“It is not the sign that was approved through the zoning process,” Frutchey said.

King Defense – Taking Prescribed Medications Is Not “Intoxicating”

Grisly picture of Deborah King’s BMW in the Pine Cone.

Despite her public defender’s efforts to get her declared incompetent and institutionalized instead of being sent to prison, Deborah King — found guilty by a jury in February of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in the 2008 death of Pacific Grove resident Joel Woods — received a prison sentence of 15 years to life from Monterey County Superior Court Judge Russell Scott last week.

So Called “Drunken Rampage” Made Up

Accused man tells his side.

Jay Ballard

The incident started, Ballard said, after he went to his girlfriend’s house after work. He said she became irate after finding an empty liquor bottle in her garage and accused of him of drinking. Ballard, who said he has had previous problems with alcohol, said he hadn’t had a drop to drink that day.

“She flipped out on me,” he said. “It escalated after that.” Ballard said the 40-year-old woman — whose identity is protected because she’s considered a victim of domestic violence — has a history of mental illness, which he said was the driving force behind her story to police.

Pollacci Defense Says He Has A Reputation

She also noted a comment by a Monterey County judge, who stated, “Pollacci has a reputation that is well-known, long-lasting and enduring as a rapist in this community.”

The study also included a doctored photo of a sign that pretended to be in front of Ron’s Liquors on Lighthouse Avenue in Pacific Grove that said “Parking only for registered sex offenders.” The photo appeared on local Internet message boards.

pretended to be in front of Ron’s Liquors? The sign was already on the sidewalk in front of the liquor store. That very Ron’s Liquors sidewalk sign that claims the public parking spaces on Lighthouse Avenue are for their customers only.

Mission Inn Employees Better Off Without Union

And the union protests the loss of dues labor policies

Labor unions for hotel workers make no sense. Is there an apprentice program for maids?

“During negotiations, a group of employees decided they didn’t want to be represented by the union and they circulated a petition that was signed by the majority of our employees,” Levenfeld explained.

“Based on the petition, we notified the union that the employees withdrew their recognition of the union. The union wasn’t pleased and made a series of accusations against us that we believe are false.”

Levenfeld said the inn has replaced the union’s health care plan for its employees with one that is fully paid by the employer and replaced the union’s retirement plan with a 401k option.
