Corn was the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner that crashed on Skyline Forest Drive in the early morning hours of Feb. 21, prosecutors said. Four of Corn’s classmates were injured in the crash.

Corn, 19, had faced a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison, but after entering the no contest plea, he now faces a maximum 9 years and 8 months in prison.

Monterey County Registrar of Voters Linda Tulett, 43, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, after a Pacific Grove police officer pulled her over on David Avenue for speeding, according to PGPD Cmdr. John Nyunt.
“She showed objective symptoms of intoxication and was right at the [DUI]limit,” he said. Tulett, who lives on Funston Avenue in P.G., was taken to the police station and held there until sober. She was released just after 4 a.m. with a citation to appear in court on the charge.

After pleading guilty to driving drunk and nearly plowing down several children, Duke Kelso was sentenced to two years in prison.

Over the summer 29-year-old Kelso was driving drunk down Buena Vista Avenue when he parked his car on someone’s front lawn. Parents called police to report that someone almost hit numerous cars and children playing in the area.

The owner of a sport utility vehicle involved in a crash in February that injured four teenagers in Monterey’s Skyline Forest pleaded no contest to one count of violating a Pacific Grove city ordinance against hosting parties where minors are served alcohol.

Christopher Ray Veloz, 19, entered the misdemeanor plea Tuesday before Judge Efren Iglesia.

Veloz was the owner of a Toyota 4Runner taken from his home, according to police, by Aaron Corn, 18, about 3:30 a.m. Feb. 21 without Veloz’ permission.

Sad to read the unexpected ending of a party. Speaking of – the whole long article has no mention of Seaside Police Commander Chris Veloz calling his son after he got word of the accident.

Pinkas said when he approached Corn, who was bleeding and drifting in and out of consciousness, he was “unresponsive.”

“I detected that he had alcohol coming from his breath and person … but I didn’t obtain a statement from him,” according to the officer.

Two other passengers, Matt Wheeler and Ahmad Mahmoud, were also injured in the crash. Hill was paralyzed.

Monterey police officer Mark Shell — who interviewed Miller the day after the accident — said Miller told him that before the crash, he was at the home of a classmate, CJ Veloz, on Syida Drive in Pacific Grove where there was a small party.

Christopher Ray Veloz, Jr., 19, is charged with hosting a party where alcohol was consumed by minors. The count, which violates Pacific Grove’s municipal code, is a misdemeanor.

Veloz, who was arraigned June 24 in a Salinas and pleaded not guilty to the charge, faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. A pretrial conference is set for July 22.

No additional charges will be filed in connection with a Feb. 21 accident that injured five Pacific Grove High School students, including 18-year-old Chelsie Hill, who was partially paralyzed.

While the driver of the vehicle, Aaron Corn, 18, faces felony drunken driving charges, Carr said no one will be charged with furnishing alcohol that Corn allegedly drank before he crashed into a tree off rain-slickened Skyline Drive.

“We don’t have the evidence to support a furnishing (alcohol to a minor) charge against an adult,” Carr said. “We don’t have any information to hold an adult responsible.”

According to records obtained by The Herald, Monterey police investigated reports that a 21-year-old acquaintance purchased two 30-packs of Keystone beer at Rite Aid in Pacific Grove and gave them to the teenagers. The allegation was not supported by security video from the store, and the man denied involvement.
