Fewer Seals Sighted Sunning On Shore

Hungry Alien Sharks

People along the coast in Pacific Grove have been asking where all the seals have gone. According to a new census report, at least a third of the harbor seals along the Monterey Peninsula have disappeared.

Seal experts said it is hard to know how many of the missing seals are actually dead, but studies show that at least 40 disappear from the Monterey Peninsula colony each year.

“Particularly for the harbor seals if you come up to this fence you don’t want to go above the fence line. They take that as a threat and they will immediately vacate the beach. So we want to control that stress level because they’re already dealing with a lot,” said Kim Akeman.

Moe never supports anything south of Sinex. Good

America’s Last Hometown, which in 1995 adopted a ban on any additional “formula fast food” establishments in the city, is getting a new Starbucks.

The coffee chain store is being “grandfathered in” as it will occupy two-thirds of the property at 100 Country Club Gate where McDonald’s used to preside. It still isn’t clear what business will occupy the remainder of the building there.

Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar confirmed the news, acknowledging it was good for Starbucks lovers while noting that Pacific Grove residents tend to be loyal to local coffeehouses rather than corporate coffee chains.

Weekend Stay At Air BnB Turns Out Kinky

Could happen in your neighborhood. Please say no to short term rentals.

Sharon Marzouk confronted what looked like a bad scene out of a porn film last Friday at her Menlo Park home where she was renting a bedroom to an Airbnb guest.
When Marzouk walked through the door, she says she found water trickling through the ceiling as the bathtub in the upstairs bathroom was flooding the second floor and pouring into the first.
Marzouk was hit with more surprises inside the bedroom of the Airbnb guest who she claims accidentally forgot to turn off the faucet: a large box of Magnum condoms, a vibrator, a bag full of used tissues, a few pairs of killer high heels, and a hand-written list of “pics” that included items such as “masturbating vid,” “bent over green Abercrombie,” and “blue and white skirt vibrator.”
Marzouk says the guest told her she was a real estate agent after confirming the booking, but when she stepped inside that room last week, she realized this was probably a lie.

and… “Calculator.”

In a lengthy Facebook blog post, a California woman recently explained her horror story with an Airbnb guest who allegedly left behind thousands of dollars in damage and — according to the homeowner — may have been running an adult business from the house.

When the homeowner returned to survey the damage, she entered Vera’s room and noticed a number of things that set off her something’s-wrong-dar.

“I noticed that there was a handbag with only condoms in it,” she tells CBS, but her blog post includes more explicit details, like the sex toy left out in the open. Those alone may be found in the private rooms of countless women and aren’t really evidence of any illicit business.

However, the homeowner also found what appears to be a checklist of photos or videos that Vera needed to shoot, like “Masturbating Vid,” “Bent Over A**/White Thigh Highs,” and… “Calculator.”

Bruiser’s Owners Take To Social Media

P.G. Demands Bookface posts removed. Is the city’s Bookface page by the city and they don’t know how to remove/ban/block opinions it does not agree with?

While the Hanes family appeals this decision, Lisa found and posted emails between Pacific Grove city employees on the city’s Facebook page that she says”Let’s the community know what’s really going on.”

Hanes says she will not remove the posts from the city’s Facebook page as she’s not legally obligated to and because of the support she’s gotten from them. Pacific Grove Mayor Bill Kampe told KION that no further action by the city will be taken in regards to the posts. Pending an appeal, the family has till August 20th to relocate Bruiser the Pig out of the city.

Bella Says Check Is In The Mail

Sure. Any more lies?

Check the mail

While news that the developer behind the proposed luxury hotel Project Bella has yet to pay its $80,000 special election fee back to the city has ruffled more than a few feathers, the city’s plans for its Local Coastal Program that would give it more control and allow the project to go before voters, isn’t ready either.

Passing Measure X, an initiative voted on during a special election held in April to change the zoning of the site that is currently the American Tin Cannery to allow a 225-room eco-friendly resort hotel, was touted by those in support of it as crucial so the project could move forward without unnecessary delay. But that was also predicated upon the city receiving its Local Coastal Program certification by the Coastal Commission this month, which isn’t going to happen.

Tourist Misinformation

Who do you take advice on Pacific Grove hospitality? People that have spent time and $$ in the locations or a self serving “Information Center”?

Ed Flatley, who owns Pacific Grove’s Victorian bed and breakfast the Seven Gables Inn with his sister Susan, proposed creating the center as a way to generate business for the city during the economic downturn. Since it opened its doors five years ago, the center has served over 550,000 visitors from 120 countries, according to Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce President Moe Ammar.

“The internet is great to get people to the area but once you’re here it’s a great way for visitors to get local information,” said Flatley, noting that hospitality is the number one money generator in Pacific Grove. “It actually saves time to stop in here. Visitors can find out where to eat, stay, etc. in a matter of minutes.”

Innkeeper Defrauds Voters

Surprised? I think not.

Where;s The Money

“The city has invoiced Domaine Hospitality Partners for the special election costs,” Maitland told the council. “We have not received payment for it.” Maitland told the city council that she first invoiced Domaine on June 7. When the developer didn’t pay, she sent it a past-due invoice on June 24. When Domaine didn’t respond to that with a check, city manager Ben Harvey on July 22 sent its president a letter, saying the bill was due no later than Aug. 11. Maitland told  the Pine Cone that the city paid the county elections for the costs on July 15.

Wharf Businesses Evicted

This will change the old Fishermans Wharf atmosphere as Canner Row style tourist traps take over the wharf.

wharf night

Monterey’s Housing and Property Manager Rick Marvin confirmed that Balesteri’s Wharf Front gift shop, the Paluca Trattoria Italian restaurant and The Coffee House, all located on the wharf and part of property leased by Sam Balesteri, had been sent lease termination letters notifying them that their current leases were up at the end of the month.

Last year the Monterey City Council voted to shorten lease agreements with wharf tenants. Since the new guidelines, the city has negotiated with three existing tenants and has offered lease terms that exceed 10 years due to the improvements the tenants want to make to the premises.

Downtown Deviant – Stockton Mayor Arrested For Strip Poker With Teen Boys

Suspect Mayor plugged our own Runaway Mayor’s book.

Stockton Mayor

Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva was arrested Thursday on charges that he supplied alcohol to underage counselors at a city-run youth camp in El Dorado National Forest and surreptitiously recorded a group of young people — including a 16-year-old boy — playing strip poker in Silva’s bedroom at the camp in August 2015.

Amador County prosecutors said Thursday that the FBI had retrieved 23 photographs and four video clips from his phone — images they said revealed things that had happened at the camp the previous month.
Prosecutors said witnesses at the camp informed FBI agents that Silva had given alcohol to the participants in the strip poker game, who were all under the age of 21, including a 16-year-old boy.
