Amanda Spears Sentenced To Jail In I.D. Theft Case

All that for a used car and some video games. Stupid.

Two 22-year-old Peninsula residents were sentenced to jail and probation for stealing an elderly woman’s identification and using it to open credit accounts with which they purchased video games and other entertainment items.

According to prosecutor Jeannine Pacioni, the victim was an 85-year-old Alzheimer’s sufferer. Amanda Spears of Pacific Grove used the woman’s identification to get credit cards and access her financial accounts. She also forged and cashed checks from the Robert H. Down Parent Association.

Theodore Lopez of Pebble Beach pleaded guilty to elder abuse for conspiring with Spears to use the 85-year-old victim’s stolen identification. Both were placed on probation. Spears was ordered to serve 340 days in county jail. Lopez was sentenced to 240 days.

Police said that around 10:45 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of 17-Mile Drive in regards to a person who had refused to pay for a taxi cab fare.

When officers arrived and knocked on the front door, police said, no one answered. Officials said, however, that police saw movement and heard sounds coming from inside the residence.

When officers went to the side window, police said, they saw what appeared to be blood splattered on the wall.

Officer forced entry into the home and found 46-year-old Judith Salazar of Pacific Grove dead on the floor. Sunny Nguyen, the 26-year-old who is reportedly the father of Salazar’s grandchildren, was also found on the floor suffering from knife wounds.

P.G. Teacher Guilty Of Child Endangerment

Taught 1st grade at the David Avenue private school for a short time. Child molesting charges entered in February were dropped in a plea bargain. Lilley has left the country for South Africa I am told.

Patrick Charles Lilley, 52, an ex-teacher at Sonoma’s Woodland Star Charter School, pleaded no contest to a single count of felony child endangerment and was sentenced to five years’ probation. Lilley served about nine months in county jail after his arrest.

P.G. Library Now Accepting Food In Lieu Of Fines

From Nov. 29 through Dec. 31, the Monterey and Pacific Grove public libraries will accept donations of unopened, non-perishable food as an option to paying overdue fines on library materials.

No fun allowed. Someone has to have that on video..

Driving toward Pacific Grove on Holman Highway at the top of the road where the S curves begin, I almost ran into a black SUV with hazard lights flashing. It became apparent that this vehicle was driven by the mother of two school-age children riding their skateboards down the highway. She was following them to ensure vehicles wouldn’t run into them.

P.G. DUI Gets Just Two Years

Driving with a BAC of .37 that’s beyond drunk. And had 3 prior DUIs.

After pleading guilty to driving drunk and nearly plowing down several children, Duke Kelso was sentenced to two years in prison.

Over the summer 29-year-old Kelso was driving drunk down Buena Vista Avenue when he parked his car on someone’s front lawn. Parents called police to report that someone almost hit numerous cars and children playing in the area.
