Pollacci Going To Prison – Finally

He’s been in County Jail ever since the first trail.Pollacci In Chains

He has been held in Monterey County Jail since the first guilty verdict but will now be moved to a state prison. While in the county facility, “he has received no disciplinary action reports or writeups” for bad behavior, according to Wouden.

Meanwhile, his parents have settled a federal civil lawsuit brought by one of Pollacci’s victims, which claimed they were negligent for letting their son, who was first convicted of sex crimes in the early 1990s, work in their liquor stores. A lawsuit by Jane Doe 1 was filed in federal court against the Pollacci’s. Late last year, a judge ruled they could be held personally liable for negligence. The family also sold its Pacific Grove and Carmel liquor stores, which are now owned by Lopez family, who also owns Lopez Taqueria & Liquor on Del Monte Avenue and Lopez Restaurante y Cantina on Cass Street.

Judge Decides Against Police Officers’ Union

Pacific Grove police suffered a setback last week when a judge dismissed breach-of-contract claims in a lawsuit they filed last year against the city over a voter-approved initiative that lowers the amount the city contributes to workers’ pensions.

The initiative was drawn up by a group of citizens led by former city councilman Dan Davis as a way of reducing the city’s retirement costs. The $900,000 Pacific Grove pays to CalPERS every year is one of the city’s biggest expenses.

Insurance Company Also Says Pebble Beach Art Theft Was A Fraud

“It is our belief that the misrepresentations and concealment were intentionally committed by [Kennaugh] and Angelo Amadio in order to obtain insurance benefits,” wrote Farmers manager Bruce Litton.

The company rejected Kennaugh’s $500,000 claim on his “Fire Exchange Broad Form Renters Policy,” because of what it called “concealment and fraud” and said investigators were unable to “confirm the legitimacy” of the lost art.

“It is impossible that the insured ever possessed a 1944 Jackson Pollock drip painting since Mr. Pollock did not begin painting this style until 1947 …,” according to a June 10, 2011 letter from Litton to Cayce.

Amadio acknowledged the discrepancy and said that his previous attorneys made a careless mistake.

The store on Lighthouse played a prominent role during Tom Pollacci’s 2010 criminal trial in which a jury found he raped a woman in the loft. According to prosecutors, nine other women have reported being raped by him over the last three decades. His next trial, on charges of raping two of them, is scheduled to begin July 11 in Monterey County Superior Court.

Pollacci and his family are also being sued in Superior Court by one of his victims and in U.S. District Court by another. Pollacci worked at the Ron’s Liquors in Pacific Grove and Carmel for many years, and met several of his victims there, where he commonly checked the IDs of customers, according to court testimony.

NOAA Lights Approved By CCC, Hated By JQP

It’s the government approving what the government wants, silly. And taxpayers foot the bill.
Noaa Lights Of Pain

The lights drawing protest include six 24-foot-tall fiberglass poles with attached LED lights, solar panels and battery units, which some residents say look out of place in the scenic neighborhood.

But according to NOAA, the new low-wattage lights are an improvement over the old halogen system because they are “dark sky certified,” turn off three hours after sunset and turn on one hour before sunrise, and don’t have as much effect on the night sky, points reiterated by the coastal commission.

“The LED lights will reduce the footprint and intensity of night-time lighting when compared to the previous non-directional searchlights that illuminated the [NOAA] parking lots,” Delaplaine wrote, “and the commission believes this element of the project yields a reduction in adverse lighting effects on adjacent neighborhoods and environmentally sensitive habitat.”

7 More Rape Victims To Testify Against Pollacci

Good chance of Tom being put away for life.

Tom Pollacci won’t have to face the woman whose powerful testimony riveted his first rape trial last spring, with her story of being kidnapped in her bathrobe and raped by him in 1980 when she was just 16 years old.

But seven other women who say they were raped by Pollacci — including Jane Doe 10, whose accusations resulted in his conviction in April 2010 and sentence of eight years in prison — will be allowed to testify against him on charges of raping two more victims in 2007 and 2008, a judge ruled Friday.Prosecutors now say there at least 10 women were victimized by Pollacci during a crime spree that began when he was 20 years old and continued while he worked at his family’s liquor stores in Carmel and Pacific Grove

Presidio Plans Portal On 68 Pikeway

A new entrance, could it help the traffic at Lighthouse & PVT. Bolio?

68 Bw1985

The work, which would include widening Highway 68 near the S.F.B. Morse Gate into Pebble Beach, could cause major traffic problems on the two-lane highway, the document shows.

The new gate, or “access control point” as the Army calls it, would “shift traffic demands” from the DLI’s existing gates and handle more than 700 cars each hour during morning and evening commutes, according to a 2010 Presidio of Monterey traffic study, the EIS shows.
