In a July 9 complaint, Rebecca Joanna Rousso, 76, contends that she was driving on 17 Mile Drive near Sunridge Road on May 27, 2025, at about 7:40 p.m. when she was stopped by the CHP for an expired vehicle registration.
“The initial allegation was driving under the influence of drugs,” according to Rousso’s lawsuit, which was filedin Monterey County superior Court.
The woman said she informed the two male officers of her myriad ailments, including heart problems, type 2 diabetes, degenerative knee disease, respiratory disease, prior stroke, and expressive aphasia — a neurological language disorder that impairs a person’s ability to speak.

At about 1:10 a.m. on July 6, the Monterey Fire Department responded to a report of a  fire at 722 Hillcrest Ave. When they arrived, residents of the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,270 square-foot-home had already evacuated.
Firefighters “saved approximately $756,000 in property and contents, while the fire caused an estimated $800,000 worth of damage and lost contents.”

Matthew Mogenson goes back home to Marina. P.G.’s going broke, council members Rau & Garfield nit picked him to death and drove him nuts and then the cannabis fiasco. He did tear down the parklets though.

Marina may have decided on a new city manager, and he will be a familiar face to many. The city announced  Thursday it would consider an employment agreement with  former Assistant City Manager Matthew R. Mogenson at their Tuesday meeting.

While serving as City manager of Pacific Grove, Mogenson oversaw the appointment of a new police chief after uncertainty caused by the injury of the previous chief ( Cathy Madalone).

On June 15 and 16, Pacific Grove police officers cited five people on Ocean View Boulevard and nearby streets for feeding animals. “My understanding is that in these five cases, it was squirrels that were being fed,” Pacific Grove Police Chief Casey Day told The Pine Cone this week.
