Lisa Bennett Named Director Of Hospice

The entire article has no mention of things she may be better known for than a consulting service.

What is there to be ashamed of? I mean, being on the Pacific Grove city council is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Lisa Bennett is set to join the nonprofit Hospice Foundation of Monterey as its director of fund development.

The Princeton graduate has 22 years experience in fundraising and is a credentialed Certified Fundraising Executive. Bennett moved to Pacific Grove in 1990, then became the director of development and public relations at York School.

She also has her own consulting practice and served as an adjunct faculty member with the Fundraising School at Indiana University for 20 years.

Lisa “Bare It” Bennett Asks To De-fund Those “Quirky Civic Events”

Where would $25,000 be better spent, Feast Of Lanterns support or a new slogan to attract tourists?
Lisa is going out with a bang, too. Article states that Bennett is not planning to run for council this year.

Pacific Grove Councilwoman Lisa Bennett took aim this week at city sponsorship of two annual events she termed sacred cows, saying the city should not automatically underwrite them as it has in the past.

The annual Good Old Days festival and the Feast of Lanterns cost the city more than $40,000 through added police and fire protection as well as other city staff services, she said.

Bare it Bennett would rather see substainable housing.

Griggs Nursery Homes

Griggs said a five-year sales slump and his desire to retire are the reasons he wants to sell the land. He hasn’t said when he’ll close shop, but said it could be in 2009.

Lisa Bennett said she wanted to support the general plan amendment but couldn’t because she would rather see affordable housing on the land. “I do have some problems with the single-family residential model which is a pattern in our community, but hasn’t been a successful model in California for affordable housing or transportation,” Bennett said.

Lisa Bennett Running For Mayor?

Recently appointed Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Bennett announced this week that she will run for mayor of Pacific Grove in November.

She said the city is dealing with many serious issues, including budgetary constraints, an aging infrastructure and protecting historic resources and the natural environment.

Bennett was appointed to the City Council in May 2005 to fill the vacancy left when John Stidham resigned.

The Hear-Old later corrected this story – Lisa Bennett is not running for mayor – she is running for reelection to city council.
