Pebble Beach “Art Theft” Updates

Insurance investigators look for proof of ownership, DA backs off on charges against “victims”.

The saga began when the artwork was reported stolen from a rented Pebble Beach home in September. Its value has been estimated by Amadio at up to $27 million for a collection said to include works by Jackson Pollock, Van Gogh, Miro and Rembrandt.

County prosecutors last week decided not to file charges stemming from a sheriff’s investigation looking into whether the men may have filed a false police report, sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Richards said.

A sheriff’s detective recently had an “informal discussion” with the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office to determine if criminal charges related to the reported burglary might be filed, Richards said.

The tent is situated so that “all 37,500 (attendees per day) have to walk past our front door,” Muscutt said with a smile.

Among the shoppers early Thursday was Don Pate, who came from Stockton with his wife, Mary Lou, to look at the merchandise before making a few other stops on the Central Coast.

Another early shopper was Kendall Matous of Pebble Beach, who works for the Northern California Golf Association. She paid $200 for “a jacket for myself and a red polo for my father.”

What will they do next? Hey boys, we are all waiting for an encore.

The burglary wasn’t a burglary, the ransom note wasn’t a ransom note, and the $80 million art heist wasn’t an $80 million art heist at all, according to Monterey County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Mike Richards. Though the men who reported being the victims in the Sept. 25, 2009, burglary of their Pebble Beach rental home, A. Benjamin Amadio and Ralph Kennaugh, have not yet been charged with any crimes, they apparently fabricated the art theft that made headlines across the nation.

The men, who also complained of unfair treatment, inaction and discrimination by the sheriff’s office, have been” quiet in recent months.

“We haven’t heard from them directly for some time. I understand now they moved over to Santa Cruz County,” he said. “They were evicted from the Pebble Beach house.”

Pollacci Rape Trial: He Rubs More Than Her Back

ewwww.

Earlier Wednesday, the woman described an encounter with Pollacci in 1995, when she lived across the street from his parents’ home in Pebble Beach.

Jane Doe 5 said she accepted an invitation to visit him as he cooked dinner at the house, a date that turned sour when she discovered he was masturbating as he gave her a shoulder massage.

She said she ran home, with Pollacci in pursuit, claiming they were “having a good time,” and she finally sent him away by threatening to call the police.

Family That Fights Together, Gets Hit Back And Goes To Jail Together

Pebble Beach mom has son’s back. Both no match for the victim, “who fought back, but with restraint”.

Lois Lintz, 64, was released on a citation following the Feb. 25 scuffle, while her son, 32-year-old Jared Miller, who lives with her in Pebble Beach, was taken to Monterey County Jail after causing hundreds of dollars in damage to the police department’s holding cell, according to Carmel Police Sgt. Paul Tomasi.

Pebble Beach Golf Shuttle Shuffle

Welcome To The Crosby
Used to be you could drive into Pebble and park on the polo grounds or brave the soggy lots to park, or reward the young capitalists that ran private parking lots in their parents’ driveways. These days they keep most of the spectators’ cars out of the forest and make you ride buses into the event.

The best bus ride looks to be the Cannery Row shuttle. $10 for rides from Cannery Row parking garages to and from Pebble. $7 to park the car in the garage right next to the bus stop.

Keep driving past the CSUMB/Fort Ord 12th Street exit by Kohls & Best Buy. Exit on Aquajito Road. Keep going after MPC, land in Monterey or Cannery Row. If you are staying in P.G. head over to Cannery Row. You will be closer to some welcome services when you get back from crawling the course.

Next is the same deal in Downtown Monterey. Park in the garages on Tyler street and ride to Pebble.

Bad deal is the Pacific Grove Chamber Of Commerce. $15 to board a bus at the Mvsevm. There is no parking near the stop, you have to compete with locals to park in their neighborhood. When you return, you will be in the ghost town that is Pacific Grove.

Dreadful is the Fort Ord CSUMB route. Sure, it’s the first sign you see coming into town and it an easy on/off the freeway. But it’s out in the middle of nowhere (Marina).

Pro-Am organizers told Action News Sports Director Dennis Lehnen that Woods had verbally committed to play in the tournament prior to his Nov. 27 car crash and subsequent revelations of extra marital affairs.

Woods, however, is taking an indefinite break from professional golf and there has been no word on when he plans to return.

Pebble Beach Art Theft Suspect Pens 30 Page Manifesto

Screwball

This story gets more weird every time it resurfaces. The cops are likely to close in soon with the help of the “victims”.

In the latest from the alleged Pebble Beach art Heist Saga, due to “an unauthorized, unsupervised memo about Prosecutorial Misconduct”, Vicki St. John has dropped both Angelo Amadio and Dr. Ralph Kennaugh as clients.

As a result of his actions, St. John says that Amadio is no longer her certified law student due to his violation of the California Bar rules governing the practical training of law students. St. John also says that she notified the California State Bar about the unauthorized memo.

Entire text of the memo available here.

Structure Fire In Pebble Beach Condos

These are the condos you see from the S curves on highway 68. Close to the 1987 Pebble Beach Fire.

No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters during the blaze, which was mostly limited to the attic of the four-story complex, said Mike Marlow, batallion chief of the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The fire was first reported about 7p.m. It appeared to have started in a penthouse unit at the east wing of one of several horseshoe-shaped buildings. The fire was limited to the east wing, but about six units sustained significant fire and water damage.
