On Wednesday, officers arrested Alicia Lewis, 32, owner of the store on Broadway Avenue, and Shaka Fitzgerald, 31, on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to sell. Both suspects live in Marina.

Officers searching the store said they discovered marijuana stowed inside shoes for sale. Police said they found four digital scales, baggies, cash and a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

Drunk Driver Plows Into Mother & Child In Pebble Beach

A baby boy is recovering in a hospital today after an allegedly drunken driver ran into his stroller and knocked down his mother as they were walking in Pebble Beach on Thursday, the California Highway Patrol reported today.

Michael Angel Sanchez Gutierrez, 22, of Seaside, was arrested after the 3:10 p.m. collision on suspicion of felony drunken driving, driving without a license and having no proof of insurance, CHP said.

Witnesses told investigators Gutierrez was traveling between 40 and 55 mph just before the collision. The speed limit at that stretch of the roadway is 25 mph, Starkey said.

Gutierrez was booked into Monterey County jail. The Ford is registered to Jose Lopez of Seaside and the CHP is currently investigating whether Lopez illegally allowed an unlicensed driver to operate his truck.

DUI Laws as they should be:
First offense – Drivers’ license suspended for life. Vehicle impounded. Can never own a car or get insurance for life. Fine equal to 2 years wages.
Second offense – enabler that gave drunk a car loses the car. Another fine – same rate PLUS add the same fine to the enabler.
Third offense – 10 years in jail.

Pebble Beach Home Found Growing Marijuana

Law enforcement officers Thursday afternoon searched a Pebble Beach home in the 3000 block of Stevenson Drive and seized marijuana plants that had an estimated potential street value of $15,000, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to Dahmen, deputies with the County of Monterey Marijuana Eradication Team (COMMET) and detectives from the Narcotics Enforcement Unit County Of Monterey (NEUCOM) arrived at a single-family home at about 2:30 p.m., where they served a narcotics search warrant.

One of the home’s two occupants denied knowledge of the marijuana, and the other occupant has not yet been located, according to Dahmen.

PG Man Arrested For Stealing Dead Roommate’s ID

An elderly Pacific Grove man was arrested on charges he stole the identity of his dead roommate and used the man’s name to make fraudulent transactions.

Police captured 73-year-old Ralph Lee Guttormsen Friday after serving a search warrant at his home in Pacific Grove.

Investigators say he assumed the identity of Robert Sterling, who died in 2002.

Pablo Castaneda, 39, of Salinas, and Darlene Marie Garibal, 23, of Gonzales, were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a 37-year-old Pacific Grove woman in the parking lot of a Safeway store on Friday night.

Police simultaneously arrested Frank Anthony Olvera Jr., 41, of Salinas, and Tom Ralph Mejia, 20, a transient, on suspicion of associating with people on parole and with other gang members.

The arrests came after police, going on a partial license plate number, traced the suspects to a home in the 600 block of Hawthorne Street in Monterey around 11 a.m. Sunday.
