Theft Or Treat?

Must be those Methodists, keeping us safe from pagan celebrations.

“They stole all my sister-in-law’s stuff out the back of their truck and tried ripping the decorations that were already up,” the woman said, adding that her boyfriend yelled at the thieves and they took off in a small dark colored sedan. “We’re pretty sure a truck was also involved.

We had one [reported] incident of Halloween decorations being stolen and vandalized on Oct. 27 in the 700 block of Hillcrest Ave.,” Pacific Grove Police Sgt. Brian Anderson said. “Skeletons were damaged and parts of them were stolen.” While some suggested that police check the city’s traffic surveillance system for vehicles that matched the description,  Anderson said police did not have a “sufficiently detailed description of the suspect vehicle to use our cameras.”

On July 22, 2025, Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Cannery Row regarding a report of a male who had engaged in suspicious behavior but was no longer in the area. The male was reported to have followed
a young adult female inside of a business and pressed up against her. In two other separate incidents the male was reported holding a cell phone with his hands lowered while standing close to females wearing skirts. It appeared the male was pressing up close to the females in an effort to photograph up their skirts.

One of the victims reported the incident to a security guard who attempted to detain the male. Initially the male  stopped and provided a name, but the male then fled the area on foot and was not located. The name provided by the male was determined to be a false name.

MPD Officers identified Jordan Pollacci, 35 years old of Monterey, as a suspect in this case. Officers noted Pollacci matched the description of the suspect in the surveillance camera videos. Pollacci’s vehicle was also captured on Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras both arriving and leaving around the same time as the suspect

Pollacci has prior convictions for 647(j)(2) PC — invasion of privacy, and 311.11 (a) PC — possession of obscene material after he was arrested in Monterey County for taking photos up a woman’s dress in 2014. Pollacci is required to register as a sex offender as a result of his convictions- MPD  Officers attempted to contact Pollacci at his registered address, but he was not located.
On August 5, 2025, MPD Officers served a search warrant and arrest warrant at a residence on El Caminito Del Norte, Monterey, and placed Pollacci under arrest.

ATM Thieves Do A Repeat, Get Caught

Flock camera led police to the van used in the thefts.

A woman from Pebble Beach and a Seaside man were arrested by Monterey Police after two ATMs were stolen last week, including from a business the same man burglarized four years ago, police said. On Feb. 21, at 3:47 a.m., offcers were called to investigate a burglary at Randazzo’s Wash and Dry on the 2200 block of North Fremont Street. Surveillance video depicts a person driving a van up to the business and throwing a “heavy object” through a glass window, entering the laundromat, and dragging an ATM out. Police said it was loaded into the suspect’s vehicle.
The thief fled the scene before officers arrived. The next morning, though, a passerby walking near Asilomar Beach discovered the stolen ATM, which had been cut and
forced open and the cash removed. On Feb. 24, at 4:13 a.m., Pacific Grove Police were called to a burglary at The Grove Laundry, a laundromat on Forest Avenue. A suspect driving a van that appeared to be the same one in the Monterey burglary pulled up to the back of the business and threw an object through a glass door before entering.

On Feb. 26, Monterey Police, with help from Pacific Grove and Seaside police, issued a search warrant on the 1800 block of Luzern Street in Seaside and detained Sage Keller, 23, of Seaside, and Pebble Beach resident Julia Spears, 26. Keller — who was convicted in 2021 of burglarizing the same PG. laundromat — was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, being a felon in
possession of a firearm, drugs, an assault rifle, ammunition and a large capacity rifle magazine.
