The night of Dec. 3around 9:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism in the 300 block of Pine Avenue after the victim — identified in the daily log as a 37-year-old female reported she was sitting in her car “when a male suspect approached and began to scratch letters into the vehicle.”
Strange. Steal a bottle of gin and get pummeled and arrested. Steal from the golf course and damage the greens and get let go. Might be a ‘who ya know” situation.
Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies say they were called out to the golf course around six, Thursday night, when employees said the kids destroyed portions of the greens and stole several golf course items.
Deputies began investigating and were led to one of the kids’ backyard, where they found all five juveniles responsible for the crime.
All five were cited and ticketed but no one was arrested.
During the Halloween weekend, close to five dozen posts in Carmel Valley, Los Laureles Grade and Pebble Beach were yanked from the ground, according to Dwyer, who fielded calls from many agents requesting the signs be re-erected. She said the vandalism has been occurring once a month for the past half year.
The Dwyers charge $18 to reinstall the signs, unless one client has several down in the same area, in which case the fee drops to $8 per sign.
Hmm. Signs get torn down, someone gets paid to replace the signs, signs get torn down, rise, repeat. A somewhat related issue I have is with real estate barons blocking sidewalks every weekend. Keep it off to the side, or I will stop and move the sign so that the path is clear.
