To Stoned To Decide, Council Waits On Marijuana Store Application

Pass it around.

A report by city staff on permitting medical marijuana establishments in Pacific Grove can’t be done by the May 5 deadline, and City Manager Thomas Frutchey will ask the City Council Wednesday to give staff members until July 7 to submit a report.

  1. The reason that PG is dragging its feet is so that city attorneys can attend a legal seminar on June 21 st. The seminar is “Medical Marijuana Where there’s Smoke There’s Fire.” The city will spend about $400-500 per attendee. At the end of the day there is a discussion of Substance Abuse and Stress. It is stressful to be a lawyer, especially in Pacific Grove.

  2. Come one, come all to the PG City Council meeting on Wednesday July 20th. We’ll finally see what our City Attorney has come up with and watch the debate. I’m sure they’ll be a lot of folks claiming that a cannabis dispensary attract crime. Just like Central Avenue Pharmacy got robbed this year. How many banks, jewelry stores, and liquor stores get robbed? Well, in Denver, LA, SF and Oakland-cannabis dispensaries get robbed less. Oh my god!
The City Attorney will, of course, recommend no action on this,so they can continue to bill the city and stay on the dole. Did you know that the City of Gilroy has spent over $100K to fight MediLeaf-which is still open. Does PG have the money to fight this? They have money for a website, tour bus, and paying stuffed shirt local pols. Besides, PG is the perfect place to get high, lots of parking, empty storefronts, empty downtown with a bakery and ice cream store. mmmm.
